Maybe they'll fix Lara's face. Oh and make her as a secret character in the next Final Fantasy. Oh and they'll have Agent 47 as the boss and Kane and Lynch as the next Biggs and Wedge god damn I am a genius I should write a book.

Former Square president calls Enix merger 'a complete disaster'

Square Enix isn't the powerhouse publisher it once was. Missteps like Final Fantasy XIV's troubled launch have led to somewhat of a reputation drop for the Japanese company, and recent quarter reports showed a loss of 5.5 billion yen (approximately $69 million). A former executive of Square has criticized the company, citing its Enix merger and lack of vision as the cause of the troubles.

"The merger is a complete failure," former Square president Hisashi Suzuki said on Twitter (via Develop). "There is no vision for the future."

Suzuki himself was president at Squaresoft, then served as a director at Square Enix for two years following the merger. He pointed out that when the merger first happened, the market cap was at 150 billion yen, but has now posted a market cap of 124 billion yen.

EDIT: Oh it says Eidos, not Enix, seems I saw the wrong thing.

Hell, ask any oldschool Squaresoft fan what they think.. and they'll tell you the same; the merger with Enix sounded the death knell for both companies. When they were top of their game (and as far as jRPGs are concerned; Squaresoft and Enix ruled the market) they worked perfectly in competition. The merger ruined both studios and their games have been rubbish ever since Sad

Shouldn't the merger have lead to even better jRPGs since all the talent was inhouse?

You'd have thought so, but it didn't -- and a lot of the talent at Squaresoft left after the merger.

Rumor: Square Hits PC in 2017 with Final Fantasy Tactics and Chrono Trigger, in 2018 with Final Fantasy XV and VII’s Remake

Insert usual disclaimers about taking this rumor with a complimentary (and DSOGaming branded) fat grain of salt. With that out of the way we can get on to the important business of games journalism; VGLeaks reports Square Enix has quite the release schedule for PC. It’s pretty believable given Square’s recent focus on the platform.

According to the sleuths at VGLeaks, Square Enix’s release schedule for PC includes titles like Final Fantasy I, Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions and Chrono Trigger by the end of 2017.

VGLeaks’ report also claims that within the first half of 2018 PC gamers can expect releases of the Final Fantasy VII remake an

There is a lot of stupid shit in that leak though like the anniversary box with all FF games as ports for example i don't think SE would do that.

yep lot of stupid shit ... but the PC stuff mentioned is very likely with how Sqeeunix dumped PC port these last couple years:

FF1, FF2, FFT and Chrono Trigger alrready have mobile ports .. so its likely for them to follow thge suite of recent mobile titles (FF3 - May 2014 , FF4 - September 2014 , FF4TAY - May 2015 , FF5 - September 24, 2015 , FF6 -December 2015 )
FF 12 Remaster is likely to come in similar manner of Type-0 and FF X/X-2 Remaster - aka after some exclusivity time

As for FFXV ... they will be even content patches for the story with undisclosed amounts of DLCs throughout 2017 .... so 2018 PC relase with all the shit and patched up is more than fine and believable for me (especially after tabata's talks about potentional PC version)

allthoiugh the collection for Vita seems bullshit, for PS4 maybe (when they already have PC versions and same architecture)
