Hi men, I am trying to use fraps with DirectX 12 but it doesnt show anything as well as MSI afterburner. I want to make a video about Deus Ex Menkind Divided. Any way to get around this?

Thanks!

For DirectX 12 support you need Afterburner 4.3.0 with RTSS 6.5.0, ideally also the 6.5.1 stand-alone update for RTSS, AB 4.4.0 and RTSS 6.6.0 will probably be next since RTSS 6.6.0 is already in beta with Vulkan support and I'm guessing a major release update for RTSS will be accompanied by a update to Afterburner as well. Smile

Fraps hasn't been updated in years so I would not recommend using that although for video recording your options are a bit more open than learning how to set up Afterburner which well it's not the most straightforward integration between AB and RTSS and the various settings and stuff that needs to be enabled.

I don't do much or well any video recording myself though so I'm a bit out of touch on which software has support for x64, D3D12 and such though I assume most of the more popular alternatives have been updated to include such support. (OBC or what it's called has been mentioned a couple of times as ha Nvidia's ShadowPlay system although I think it's at least partially reliant on the GeForce Experience software.)

Ru talking about recording a game? Don't use fraps (huge file size, outdated) or Afterburner for recording (for some reason it has a quite noticeable performance hit compared to OBS'\Shadowplay even when using the same recording settings). Afterburner is great for OCing and monitoring, not recording.

If you have nvidia GPU you could try shadowplay\geforce experience.

If you have amd gpu or don't want to install geforce experience for some reason then use OBS studio (AMD\NVENC encoder)

It's a bit more difficult to setup properly but it's really good.

Another thing, if you have intel CPU (preferably i7) then you can record via OBS using Intel Quick Sync encoder. But you'll have to enable iGPU and enable multi-adapter or whatever it's called in bios

2) SFFPC (streaming via Moonlight+ Sunshine)

Is it likely they'll release a DC with integrated DLC missions - or are they too "separate" for that to work?

The way it's conceptually built, that will not work. DLC will always be separate, the way it is built now. It looks to me like a clear design decision.

It wouldn't really be that difficult to add a terminal to say the Palisade bank area and when you interact with that it takes your Jensen and loads that DLC mission instead of being fully separated from the entire game and loaded from the main menu.

Hell it doesn't even require that as they could just use Jensen's TV in the apartment to go to the DLC content without using a blank character with some Praxis kits.
(Wouldn't affect anything in the main game unless they really put some work into it but still a improvement over how it works now and you keep character progression.)

EDIT: Which is kinda how the Director's Cut of Human Revolution loads the DLC zone by just switching the transition while you still lose all your equipment and Praxis but get it all back once you finish the DLC area.
(Not the smoothest transition ever but in Human Revolution besides some news paper updates nothing really matters on how and what you do and the entire ending is some voiced lines after pressing a button and following that some media footage was edited and put in.)

That would seem a bit too artificial for my tastes.

That said, if they kept the progression intact - it might work.

True of course, but I'm not sure how much Nixxes can do on their end since they only helped with the PC porting, development is with Square/Enix I would assume so besides bug fixes specific to the PC edition they probably just get new builds from SE and implement their work to those.

Going to the actual developer studio I doubt they'll do much more for the game now besides that second and last DLC addition and that's probably fairly finalized already just awaiting release scheduling.
(Even if the above simplified implementation would be mainly just some scripting work.)

Especially if the rumors of the game having a sequel already in the works were to be true, most of the team would be moved over to work on that then.

Hi JBeckham and h0rnyfavn, thanks so much for the help. I will try shadowplay when creating a video since it gets updated unlike fraps. I appreciate the recommendations. No need for using outdated software like fraps.

Thanks men.

Hello and thank you for contacting Square Enix! Sorry to hear about your mouse look issues. During playtesting, most of our players preferred to relax in our comfy couches, out of reach of PC peripherals, so we designed the controls with the gamepad in mind. But rest assured, all of our testers were PC gamers from the Call of Duty pro scene. Try it out and let us know how you like our revolutionary gamepad smoothness. We promise you won't be disappointed.

Happy gaming!

After tweaking with vsync and the mouse sets, i dont feel that much of an issue. Besides im on a ghost rating playthrough, so im not much in need of that twitch-second FPS critical moves..
Well maybe just that scene a little ago in one uteleck (insert correct name here) prison where you got to save a brother of some ARC member and put to sleep 4 guards at same time in the same room without them noticing you (for the megaghosting Very Happy ), but a smoke grenade gave some help. Laughing

But the lightning, design and artistic direction of this complex is great IMO

Edit: Must say im enjoying it a lot more than i expected. And i expected a lot.

Just started this game, from the first 2 missions I can say that I don't really care that much for it. The gameplay is too clunky for my taste.

Didn't want to offend anyone here, ofc. Not the hacking, reading, menus etc, just purely the movement and interactions. Maybe it will grow on me after 5-10 hours more, some games usually do. Smile
