Sometimes you don't need to do shit to see cops fucking up like U.S. cops do in reality Laughing I was minding my own business around Silicon Valley last night, not even causing a disturbance and a couple of police cars arrived and they started yelling at some random black guy through the car speakers. He wasn't doing anything wrong and when I pointed my phone at him it seemed like he was a good guy. The cops ended up shooting the poor guy even though he didn't react violently.

Some other random shit like a jogging girl kicking some random stalker guy's ass when he got on her way with an aggressive attitude Laughing

So, it seems people only comment about performance or about random funny scenes during playing.

But what about the story now? Is it as hipster as in the videos, or does it get better?

There isn't much of a story, mostly you find missions all over the world that you can complete whenever you want and which bring you slightly closer to the big goal (gaining followers). It's not like the first game where there was one big story and multiple story missions that you would complete one after another (or not like GTA). It's mostly a buffet where you just go as you please.

Most of the hipster stuff is played for laugh, including characters calling each others hipsters. It'll still be annoying if you don't like that type of characters, but it's barely present. San Francisco itself is super hipster, that might bother some people more than the characters of dedsec.

Just keep in mind I mean it when I say the city itself is more hipster than the characters.
One taxi mission was for a guy going to a clinic for a birth. From the conversation, it can be seen that it's a gay man meeting his husband and the mom from the baby they'll adopt. They have the Castro district in the game, which is a historical LGBT neighborhood.

I haven't found the game to be super heavy-handed, from what I've seen so far (haven't completed the game) it doesn't just hammer me with those subjects and go "GET IT? DO YOU GET IT?". It's just that this is part of the actual city, so if I drive through Castro I'll see LGBT stuff. If I drive through Chinatown I see Chinese stuff.

But if someone is bothered by this, and if this is something that would ruin their experience of the game, it's best to skip it.

You can still find keys for $25 or $30 from people that got it via either Samsung or Nvidia promotion.

I think that's pretty cheap for a new (not bad I have to say) game. Smile

i disagree somewhat with his grasp of the story.
there are main orange missions and then there is all the other side content.
the main missions follow a story. it starts slow at first with dedsec trying to gain followers and expose the issues with ctOS (which is definitely a story) but then evolves.
i havent finished it yet but there is definitely a story.

however, the characters are all young cool people. all very likeable and human. no super bad-ass vigilantes. they are all a lot more Nathan drake rather than aiden pierce. i find the writing great, lite, humorous and natural. all of dedsec's members feel, while exaggerated, like typical rebel youths and i truly believe their friendship and relationship. that's an achievement on its own.

it makes it harder to pull the trigger as marcus and kill someone, even if it's a gang member, because how believable he feels as a good guy with good intentions.

i think WD2 is a great game, if you liked the first one or thought the first was either too serious or could use a slight tune up but wasnt that bad. the game is usually lite (until the story takes a slightly darker turn, but remains pretty light afterwards still) and comic (think GTA) and full of trolling the AI with hacking.

IMO the so-called "story" aims at a teenage audience.
Not really fun, not making much sense, but certainly embarrassing for a mature audience.

Do you have to be so edgy? It's clearly heavily satirically inclined.

Gotta take it with some humor, i think its pretty on point and funny.

i think so as well. i felt the story was fun and sometimes funny and marcus, satiria and josh where great characters and their interactions were great as well. this is more like an action-comedy movie rather than a suspense thriller like WD1.

Just not my type of "humour".
For some real fun and satire, I'll wait for South Park earlier next year Smile

The game is almost nothing like all the hipster trailers we saw. I actually like it. Hacking and planning routes is really very well done, and the only complaint is the usual shit camera controls, it can be difficult to not bump into things.

Guns completely ruin this game tho. It's almost as if the game was designed, and then someone up top said, 'no this won't sell, we need guns'. I mean, the stungun is a perfect tool, so why would you also need an ak47 ffs?

I love the hacking co-op, as long as the other guy isn't a dick. I ran several missions with someone who was quite good, and it was a thoroughly pleasant experience. What isnt so pleasant is hacking other players. It's all fun till the end - when the guns come out and you just shoot each other, missing the whole point of hacking in the first place.

Still, it's thoroughly enjoyable and I'm never listening to the Hump again Laughing

i also feel like the guns are there as an add-on and not an integral part of the game, but i would not get the game if there was no real fire fights in it.
the game's tone and marcus' personality are enough to make me not use weapons on any innocent guard, but i do enjoy a good shootout so i get into those against criminals or when i feel like it.
the guns feel a little out-of-character for dedsec (i havent even encountered the words "gun", "kill" or anything violent coming out of any dedsec member's mouth) but i think they are important as another option on how to do things.

Game is good.

I agree. The story and the characters are very superficial and very geared towards teenagers.

But still the missions are fun.

About 25+ hours in.

The missions are fun if you take the stealth approach. However, the AI isn't smart enough (at least so far) which kind of breaks any challenge. Even on realistic, it rarely has any challenge. Yes, you can get killed in 1-2 hits, but that only happens when you get caught, which is basically never if you 10% caution about your surroundings.

The guns indeed feel very optional. Only during online bounties, I have used guns.

Second, you can finish some missions without even getting inside the red area. A number of charges(?) you pick off from people are too high. Simply use the jumper, when an enemy sees you, just MMB and press 3rd option (C) and he doesn't bother for next few seconds. When out of chargers, just collect them off again. Very easy.

The story is nothing special. Characters - cannot stand Wrench and Sitara. Josh is okay and Marcus grows really well on you.

The online is much better than first. It's smooth and doesn't have any problem now. A friend and I did plenty of co-op missions and bounties are hilarious. Very Happy

Overall - the game is fun. However, nothing really outstanding or new but nothing bad either. I hate the fact they removed minigame which was present in W_D.

I'm not bored so far, which is a lot, since I barely stick to these type of games for more than 10 hours. 7-8/10 is right. Just fun game.

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

Nevermind 'the hump', try listening to the brain inside your head, as most of us did here, by not buying it outright after the mess that was the first game. If they've proven that they've actually put some work into the game (and PC version) this time, cool, but don't act like the skepticism and lack of preorders weren't warranted.

As they've also put a hold on AC for a few years to do that right, perhaps they're actually pulling their heads out of their asses now.

Meh I was being a little sarcastic Razz The Hump, as far as collective intelligence goes, is pretty good. I never preorder anyway as that is always a road to disappointment, and the 'goodies' you get by doing so inevitably end up being available freely in some manner or other.

I do think some esteemed members of our little club tend to hate on things that very little is known about tho...

Anyway, my misery will return after xmas. Must be this dirty great tree with 1200 lights and a oil-field worth of decorations that's making me somewhat more jovial than usual Razz
