Is there something like what OSX has, where you just press CMD+space and then start typing?
I'm sick of the start menu not finding programs I search for. Applications that I use multiple times per day. For example - it won't find Origin, 1Password, Dropbox etc and starts populating the list with fucking web results and other nonsense. Sometimes it'll actually find files within an apps folder, but not the executable itself.
It happens across 2 of my PCs and I'm wondering if there's a good alternative.
or try this workaround
C:\Userse\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Packages\windows.immersivecontrolpanel_cw5n1h2txyewy
rightclick LocalState -> properties. get to the advanced. check if "Allow files in this folder to be indexed in addition to file properties" is checked, if not check it and allow it to all sub dirs. if its already checked, uncheck it, hit ok etc. open that menu again and check it again
(dunno if all terms are correct, just translated them from german to english)
Make sure 'search' is not disabled in services, then try the following:
Go to Indexing Options in the Control Panel.
Click the Modify button to get the Indexed Locations window.
Expand your OS disk and check the checkboxes for Program Files and Program Files (x86).
Add C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu in Indexed Locations.
In Indexing Options, choose Advanced, then choose to Rebuild the index.
If all still fails, do this:
Open Control Panel.
Open Indexing Options.
At the bottom there is Troubleshoot search and indexing.
Click on it and select the 2 top options in the next window.
Let the system run a diagnostic and select a fix.
