Steam version I guess? Would the GOG version be playable if I bought a copy and a friend played with a pirated one, or are all games handled via GOG Galaxy for multiplayer now?

Wanted to try it but I get a black screen with a Worms mouse cursor and no matter what I do it crashes. Not sure whether it's the crack but the Steam forums have loads of people with this issue. Of course, loads of people would be so dumb to report a crash from a cracked version on official forums ... so who knows, it may just be crack related.
This is also the first game which I HAD to block in my firewall before it would run.
Best worms since Armageddon way back when. Ever since it feels like they made steps back or just remade the good ones.
This seems like a step forward.
That's high praise indeed. I'm a hardcore fan of the original WA and WWP, but the newer ones always felt shitty/buggy to me.
In particular, the newest 2D ones felt like the physics (jumping accuracy, charged weapons, grenade bouncing) were much less refined and precise than before.
I'll try this one out, see if it's a bit more polished.
Free to download as of December 7, WMD's Liberation update adds five new single-player level; four new weapons, including the Mischievous Drone, the W1 Rocket, the Worm Stinger, and the Tasty Worm Lick; and 12 new customisation options, like the Bicorne, Beret, Chinese Hat, and Rubber Glove.
On top of that, the update adds a new theme "to battle upon including new buildings and tunnels to explore"; while a new drillboat vehicle marks the first seafaring mode of transport to be added to the series.
