watched this over the last months, prety good and original in the first 3 seasons; anyway what happened in season 4, it was a borefest with only 1-2 good episodes
What the fuck is this shit? Been holding this series off for way too long, and its pretty muddled with modern era ethics. Perhaps not all the time, but especially where women is concerned.
Having a strong female to stop raping in a viking raid, and be 100% excused - check
Have a strong independent woman making the judgement that the man in a relationship with a cheating woman is the culprit and the woman is entirely excused - check
Is this what's to be expected of this series? I thought it was a serious historical show.
Almost done with season 3 and can sum the show up in a few words. Well, sum the vikings up "at least they tried" They fail at everything, win small battles yes, just to be led into obvious traps and deceptions. Show is good, but tedious that everything goes to shit, and Ragnar which i initially thought was bright is actually dumb as shit. I don't know if it's a good or bad thing that he's completely unreadable.

You're watching it from a Christian, patriarchal view. Vikings simply had strong women (and strong female gods). For all the stuff the show is doing wrong, the role of the female in Viking tribes is not wrong or silly.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
Can anyone help me understand that brilliant chess move by rollo in the first episode of the 4th season? He was married into the royal family because they feared the vikings, yet Rollo betrayed the only people who keept him in that very position? what brilliant fucking mind orchestrates something that could very well lead to his own death as a result? The French have no reason to keep him alive anymore, or at the very least Rolly doesn't know if they do or don't.
well the people love him now, thats the reason. whatever started out as a tactical alliance has changed, and now the people have accepted him as their saviour... the soldiers respect him, and the emperor loves him as well, and clearly the princess too... basically everyone in paris loves him now.
and it makes sense to him, since hes always sought power, and he realised he could never get it back home, so its worth risking his life to gain it elsewhere.
I'm talking about the first episode. He was completely clueless. His tranny translator just left him so he couldn't communicate a word. Yet he managed to orchestrate a attack on his "friends" and somehow KNOW that he wouldn't be backstabbed by the french after doing it. It's just simply.. Too stupid and nonsensical.
Indeed! I love the pace of the series, the simple yet poignant dialogs and the interpreters' roster. Fimmel, as an actor, is always a pleasure to watch performing.

PS I wonder if a bluray version is going to have any uncensored girl on girl action
IIRC, Katheryn Winnick spoke about nudity in an interview through the first season, and she said that she asked to not be
