Let me know if you find someone 'better' or better quality; apparently there's a developer in on this one. He has low volume to hear the dev.

No mod support is in their plans now.

Judging from the video(s), it does definitely look 'rough' in terms of animations and collisions, and I'm not sure the level design can be consistently enjoyable in single player for me (as I'm not a big fan of the sub-genre where you have to kill hordes of beasts in linear levels). We'll see, would isodemo out of curiosity, but it's not tickling me as I initially hoped Razz

This game will definitely improved by some modding. Honestly 90% of my complains can be patched. But the one problem that can't are the sound design, honesty I find it very lacking. But if we can just rip the sound file from Dawn of War 2 or Space Marines it will be fine. Then the only remaining problem is the dialogue and voice acting, which unfortunately can't really be fixed without official overhaul. Something Focus Home can't afford nor allow.

Also, let's be honest about this. The game isn't full price and will propably even cheaper on keysellers. So I can live with it's roughness as long as it's somewhat fun.

Let's not forget that some bastards out there dare to charge full price or even 70€ for games in the same or even worse state.

That's not meant as an excuse though. More like that I feel one has to put this into perspective.

This is only a bit cheaper than Witcher 3 at its release, I don't think this game is that cheap to even use that as a positive or worth mentioning. On the contrary it is nothing but too expensive.

Because at this price we got Gothic Armada which run much better, had really good voice acting, graphics, writing, campaign, story AND most importantly sufficient polish even at its beta.

Armada and Deathwing are not so far from one another in terms of quality. Deathwing doesn't look so bad even with TXAA. The UI is pretty shitty, but you can't judge the story or the campaign based on this Beta. The singleplayer campaign should be more story driven with some sort of cutscenes, visions and what not. Also, according to the game's menu, this is version 0.7xx of the game.
What bothers me the most comes from the game's horde mode design. The melee attacks are simplistic, the combat is pretty spamy and the variation of enemies reminds me of Vermintide...

Have you read the dialogue in the tutorial? The lines AI speak when completing orders? I just don't see how someone who wrote all that could come up with a decent narrative in the single player campaign. Also Armada is miles ahead of this and its only a decent game in my book.
Armada looks good in stills and in motion, Deathwing only looks good in stills because the animations are a mix bag overall.

The devs were asked specifically: There are no plans to allow mods as of now. They want control to be able to milk players for skins and whatnot else I bet.

I played some more, it's growing on me. I like that the devs tried to integrate some of the tabletop mechanics into the game. This does make the shooting a lot less accurate and more annoying for a lot of people, but I'm fine with it.

If they can fix it, I'll try it, but I don't have the patience to play something half-finished.

Quite enjoyed it. Need som fixing, yes.
Lost connection to the servers twice and the FPS does take a hit when the swarms appear.
Hopefully it's fixed when launched, otherwise refund

Tried the beta, really liked it but there desn't seem to have any kind of global progression, resets every game, that's a real bummer imo, could get very boring very quick.

We are used to and spoiled with player progression in almost any game nowadays. The lack of it does not bode well.

I don't consider myself spoiled because of it.

It's outright stupid not to include that low-hanging fruit in your game design.

not a big deal ... will play only story once anyway (maybe once more with coop bro)
... kinda annoyed with such stuff in competitive shooters anyway (killstreaks are cancer of MP shooters)

'Spoiled' as treated as rewarding as possible. It was nuanced.

The whole point of many games is to give the player a sense of achievement. Some give more, some give less, but all games use the concept. In different ways, ofc.

True enough, but most games suck at it. Case in point would be Ubisoft open world games - where they hide cheap repetitive activities as ways to "progress" and give you boring incremental updates.

But it's still better than not having it at all Smile
