oh boy... thats the most inappropriate comparison i ever heard.

if you dont need all those "security" and parental control (which windows has too, partly) etc shit from the internet security suite bloated bullshit stuff it doenst matter if you use the defender or any other av guard (with the exception that every free 3rd party av stuff annoys you with popup or other idiotic stuff). but you are most likely a person who uses an extra software firewall cause the one integrated in windows is "bad". please go back to your hole into the year 2004 prior the sp2 release of xp

it doenst go to sleep mode, maybe only the fans etc turning a few secs longer than normal cause it saves some stuff on the harddrive.

shutdown (without pressing shift while pressing shutdown) is no shutdown you like were used to have. its a hybrid between shutdown and hibernate. called quickstart or whatever, you can deactivate that in the energy saving options (and should deactivate that for multi-os systems)

Janz HALP!

*summon Janz*

Hey man, hoping you can help me out My son was banging on my keyboard (he likes mechanical keyboard sounds haha) and he must have switched an option in folder view.

Now This PC looks this way, and it really bothers me. Can't seem to figure out how to get it back just showing drives / external storage and nothing else. Any idea?

a little info towards that topic. smart from that bitch eugene, he creates some buzz with stuff he knows its bullshit just to announce this week that kaspersky was working 14 years on a complete own os named kasperskyos which is now available and ofc the most secure shitblabla cause its 100% own developed etc and not based on anything available blablabla

but its stuff for smaller devices, first thing to come with that is a network switch

so it isnt reasonable that ms provides protection for free? nobody is forced to use that, but with that nobody is completely unprotected (and btw thats not a new thing that came with win 10, it was standard with 8.0 already). i always punch people who install fucking avira or free whatever crappy and popup annoying bullcrap instead of using the build in protection

Win 7 had it first. Wink

win 7 did not had integrated protection. the ms security essentials first were an additional download which wasnt delivered via windows update at all! they might have changed that after the release of win 8 where the defender got those features as addition to the malware stuff (which was present in 7 from the beginning under the name windows defender, but as i said: that was no antivirus solution)

It's also supported by the app from ms store... but no luck for Linux I guess. I still find the image quality acceptable though, better than most rips I dld.

sure its supported by the apps (and ofc the smart tv apps on the devices directly). i guess netflix only rated edge safe enough not to "steal" the stream

So, finally installed Win10 over Win8.1 of my rarely used Notebook.

But the problem is: My Win10 Pro key from my uni is no longer working, meh. Embarassed

What is the currently safest and stable way of activating it? Sad

But i did a new install, no upgrade. Will the key still work?
Will try it when i'm back at home, but i fear it will be invalid too. As it's from my uni too.

At the end of October MS pushed an update for my ATI card, past updates I had used AMD installer. The following day it tried to push KB3197954 (cumulative update) but it failed, it did however update KB3199986. After the failed update it wanted me to run scan disk, which I did and everything looked good but I have not been able to get a single cumulative update since. They all end with Error code: (0x80073712), however I am still getting all other updates. I tried to manually install these updates through the catalog, they just fail. I have run a Fix It wizard MS had on their site and the one provided with Windows 10 to repair updates without any luck.

Any clues? Computer runs fine. I checked my HD with HD Guardian, SMART is good to go. Starting to feel like a reformat in order to resolve this issue but I sure as hell don't want to do that if I don't have to.

the 8 key? i still have msdnaa and dreamspark keys of 7 and 8.1 which are a few years old and just work fine

and yes, in theory its no problem to use them even if its already installed (though i had a few problems with other keys with that method, only worked when entered during the setup, but that werent msdnaa keys)
