It is very unlikely. There is no proof of working backup copys over the net. I agree with |insane. It is just to get hits.

if so... m$ will stop with there console adventure and let sony alone FFS! 
making the 60 costs 715$ they sell it for 300 and if no1 is going to buy there games ^^ it's some major stupid investment M$ is making... and pray to god that they will stop with there crap box for good.

I believe this is bullshit, pure and simple.
Check www.xbox-scene.com for the latest news and if it isn't posted there, it hasn't happened yet.

xbox-scene only posts it when its 110% sure ( same with the kiosk disk ) so dont get all your hopes on xbox-scene.org

it seems that it is going to be an dvd rom 'mod chip' not anything what we have seen before but just an chip that runs backups not unsigned code yet . at least if you believe the following info at this site I dunno what to believe but it could be true the dvdrom is the most weak link in the xbox 360 at this moment.

Its theoretically true.
But until its tested noone knows if it will work.
The process in itself is a simple idea, and sometimes simple ideas are the best.
The trouble with this method is that it wont let you use homebrew or linux etc.... as its only fooling the system into thinking the disk is a pressed DVD and not a DVDr
