i found the first (well second) bonfire before i decided to go back and see what was off to the right.. i spent ages clearing that section, those viking bastards are unforgiving... ugh and then the fucking wolves just to get back to the area when i eventually fucked up... you can try and run through them, but it can be a little inconsistent as to how well that'll work. i just find it less bothersome to clear the area every time.
worst of all, sadly, there wasnt anything really worthwhile in that area... the ashes only gave shit, and i wasnt all that interested in the bow... far as i can tell, doing a TINY BIT of pre-damage for the first boss fight is the only reason to go that way... outside of the usual OCD most souls players suffer from...
PS
OK my friend has reached SL 110 (I gave him some souls) but he STILL can't see my white sign.. Although he is within my SL range now. wtf.It used to work just fine
First those spear fuckers, then the 12 wolves, then the black wolf, then the black knight vikings, then there's no fuck bonfire in sight, except that big tower, then I checked out that tower too expecting to find one up there, eventually got smacked by viking, and of course no bonfire, all for nothing...
Definitely giving this DLC a pass. Suck my dick.
The right side is brutal at the start, but the left side has a bonfire way too often. I found the dlc really good, the end boss fight is epic, but the whole thing was a bit short.
The skies shall rain fire and the seas will become as blood.
dat dlc.. yes yes i know, i know... its short, it sucks, blah blah blah, but i mostly enjoyed it...
but that final boss... oh god, that final boss... yeah i summoned the npc, ill admit it, but still, jesus christ...
i dont think any boss in the core game gave me these levels of grief to be honest... the first stage was easy when you figure her out, the second stage is mostly just a 'try not to fuck up' stage, but that third one.... christ, she moves so fast, attacks so aggressively and constantly, and her 'grab move' just fucks you up.
and to be honest, i was a little grumpy at the PLAYER 2 HAS ENTERED style of fight for the first boss in the dlc... id have given anything to have that fight again instead of this!!
the... the tears were real...
what made it worse was that it wasn't her that killed me.. it was greed... i just wanted that final killing blow so badly (actually i think i just didnt want the npc to get the kill ) and boy did i pay for it.
anyway, finally beat the bitch, and im done with the dlc.

I've increased my SL to 140 ( to make my caster a bit less squishy and I still can co-op\pvp without a password with players at ~SL 116+), so I switched to NG+

So how many levels +/- can you co-op with? 25 max?
(From my understanding during the start of the second stage of the fight he kinda loses it temporarily and slams down his hand on the ground which would have been holding this thing and then just went completely insane from that realization of what just occurred, still mostly happens but sounds are a bit more muted and there's no actual 3D model.)
Haha, so he was supposed to hold the baby and eat his head with that squishing sound

Don't mind the naysayers, there's no shame in being helped by good guy Gael. Hell, it's only fair. She can resurrect herself two times and has a giant beastly sidekick who spits flames like a walking volcano, we have the legal right to have a humble buddy to give us a hand!
