The thing is, all the side missions are pointless. You can complete the game without even doing any of them, and the story is shit, so I don't see the point.
Gothic's non-linearity is presented far better, plus the side missions actually count for something other then advancing a story you could'nt give a shit about.

Thats just bollocks though. There shouldn't be a 'right way'. Lets just say I wanted the game to last a long time, but because of some choice I made near the start it's extremely short. Thats utter shite.

All I can say: you just can't accept that a game is totally non-linear and you finally get to make real choices. You keeping yelling and booing about games being scripted and linear but you secretely like it and prefer it that way.
By the way, you don't need to guess anything to get the full story - just don't kill off all that moves and thus u won't kill the NPCs needed for the game, that's all. You'll make a few choices that will cost more or less side quests but you still get the story.
And I wouldn't say the story is shit. We've seen AAA titles with more senseless bs as storyllines.
