Prometheus works if you pretend it's nothing at all like it is, which is absolutely unforgivably terrible.

Agreed! What do you think of mixed genre-scifi like Sunshine?

If their marketing campaign is modeled after the previous film then the first teaser should be released online this December or so.

TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."

"a phenomenon."

If that's not your first Alien film then you aren't really spoiling anything so click away, just don't read the text! They look cool.

Well, I would need to rewatch it, it's been a while... but I remember the 80 percent of the movie being quite spectacular and meticulous with the inner space representation... also the sun vistas with Underworld music was quite a gaze. But I agree about the end, was the WORST.

Let's not forget that Ridley Scott is old and worn these days.

The best we can hope for is that it's better than Prometheus, which might very well mean it still sucks.

It will be funny if this turns out to be reimaging of first Alien, like SW: Force Awakens, or Thing.

Do you classify Aliens as a horror? To me they are action, nothing really 'scary' about them.

Maybe alien I could consider, but I wouldn't say aliens

I'd say it's more of a thriller - but there are horror elements in it.

Even so, that wasn't really my point.

My point is that you can have an Alien movie without a retarded script.

I'd have, MAYBE, bought it in Prometheus if it was just a random group of people. Scientists can act like idiots too, after all. But they were supposed to be a carefully selected group of top experts in their respective fields with a 200% knowledge of the possible dangers the whole operation could entail. And they went full retard on their... what... second day on the planet? I think it was, since if I remember right things turned to shit on the second trip to that complex. Great job, Weyland HR department! Laughing

It's really hard to treat a movie as anything but a comedy with fucked up writing like this. The movie was my biggest cultural dissapointment of 2012. I really hope this one is better - the poster certainly looks good - but I'm not holding my breath.

Beyond that, even if they had all been super smart - the rest of the movie made zero sense.

One of the worst scripts in recent memory.

But ok, it was pretty - and I liked Fassbender.

Oh, I see. You want Prometheus to be great for no rational reason so you just spout bullshit about other movies Wink

Cool, message received.

i dont think i even mentioned prometheus... I feel like you've got the wrong number or something..

people doing dumb things is a scifi horror trope. deal with it. both of the films you listed rely heavily on stupidity to help drive their plots, even if there are one or two rational characters in the films, and theyre good films, doesnt change the fact they rely on stupid characters to drive the plot and give the rational characters something to play off of.. sorry if you cant accept that, for whatever reason..

Why would you need to mention Prometheus? It's not rocket science that being pro-Prometheus is the only reason you would even begin to say all Alien movies are full of retards.

Sure, mistakes are made in Alien and Aliens - but to pretend it's the same thing and that they're "full of idiots doing retarded things" is a bad joke.

They're literally worlds apart in terms of the quality of the script.

That doesn't mean you have to hate Prometheus. Some people don't mind shit scripts.

In the real world, there are good scripts and there are bad scripts.

Alien is a decent script and Aliens is a very good script. Both movies have mostly plausible characters doing mostly plausible things.

Prometheus has the majority of characters do incredibly implausible things.

I really don't remember anyone in Alien or Aliens going all "aww, look, how cute! He wants to play with us!" on a first time seen face hugger. I might be wrong, but I just don't remember anything like that. I don't mean to say noone did stupid shit in these movies, or other 'revered' horror flicks, but the context and scale of the stupidity is always important - it's a difference between something you can buy and something you just can't.

Yeah, I don't recall Aliens/Aliens having stupid characters.
People making stupid things based on fear, yes, but not retards like in Prometheus.

Most movies have some characters make mistakes - and those two aren't any different.

But we're talking about scientists doing the most unscientific things imaginable. Again, one of the most implausible set of characters and circumstances I've ever seen.
