I got to say, I love the main song of the game, sure, it's no Baba Yetu, but a considerable improvement compared to the songs in G&K and BNW Smile

Please someone comment about AI Sad As an SP player, the AI wasn't good in Civ 5.

Official price is indeed high, 60 euros ffs. I guess a key for 47 IS cheap. Well FU.

I've been playing it, and yes, it's possibly the best Civ yet - maybe even better than 1 and 2 (IMO).

But... £50?? I'm sorry, but I think this is just too high. When did PC games suddenly get so expensive (I expect it from EA because they're robbing cunts)? I don't mind paying for a great game, but £50 makes me choke a little. Am I alone here?

You're definitely not alone Kaltern. Razz On one hand the game offers much more value for the money than the various short scriptmatics around that cost the same, but on the other one, £50 is such an absolutely insane price that I just cannot fathom.
It's also a matter of principle for me. Especially since there will surely be 3-4 expansions down the way (no matter what they say) and the traditional cheaper GOTY repackage available after some months, followed by a Gold one and finally the Complete Platinum. Laughing
The Civ games also suffer deflation more than others, generally it's good for those who wait. So yeah, ISOdemo party now, and legit full game bought during future sales, so that they get rewarded..only reasonably!

The AI, unfortunately, is horrible. Unless they start with serious bonuses, they are completely useless. Two games in a row, I've always 2 eras ahead of them and I'm not a good player.

I hope this gets fixed, since it really ruins things for me. Apart from that, best Civ I've played.

Get isodemo? That way you can see the A.I. for yourself and judge if it is worth the money. Haven't played yet so can't comment on how it is.

So, I started a game as Pericles of Greece and after a great amount of turns without fidning any new civ I finally met... Pericles of Greece Laughing

Duplicate leaders!? That's so immersion breaking!

EDIT: Aparently it's a bug related only to choosing a Greek Leader (Gorgo or Pericles), so stay away from Greece for the time being unless you're happy with your doppelganger being among the competition Laughing

Damn, you can use sql to modify game. I just did this:

UPDATE Technologies SET Cost = Cost*6;
UPDATE Civics SET Cost = Cost*3;

Makes ages last longer

I am new to civ and I just started a game on Deity. I was just building and after a few rounds Germany which is much bigger declared war. I tought it was going to be rough but I started making military units and especially seka horse archers or what their name is and now I took a big city of germany and have just been steamrolling two factions who declared war.

I thought I took the hardest difficulty but this seems way to easy.

Hmmm that sounds indeed worrying, and not because you're new to Civ but because if you allow a typically expansionist neighbor to declare war to you on Deity (even on Immortal) when their army clearly outclasses yours it shouldn't be that easy to just "keep producing units" and then even take their city. In fact, unless the player is very experienced that leads many times to being swept off the map, and experienced players rarely get themselves in that situation to begin with, they make sure to have a strong enough military early on. Maybe the "bad warring AI" concerns on the forums are true after all, hopefully they fix that with a patch.

While barbs are annoying, they're not too difficult to deal with when you get your first govt civic that allows for +5 strength fighting barbs.

I'm 150 turns in with my modified game, fucking japan just declared war on me and they're bringing 30+ warriors. It sure as shit doesn't help their units fight full strength when damaged. I have 6 units holding of warriors and a few slingers behind them. This is like that 300 movie lol.

Not sure about difficulty above posters are playing, but AI seems to handle units pretty well. They hit me, get damaged, pull out wounded and bring in fresh ones.

I have a feeling I lost this game. I'll prioritize army before expanding too much.

I won several games on Emperor in Civ 5 (Scientific, Cultural and Diplomacy. I don't like going for Domination), never got to try above that. Here I started playing on prince to get the basics but I plan to keep making my way up back to Emperor and hopefully with many more hours than I invested on Civ 5 ( I was a late buyer 3 years after release) maybe I can keep climbing towards Deity, though I got a feeling there's more bugs on release than we think that are making the AI easier than it should be. We'll have to be patient and see as the patches start rolling.

Maybe its reversed, chieftain being the hardest and deity the easiest? Laughing
I know i tried taking a city very early ingame, in prince, to try and see if the rush/blitzk worked and found it quite hard going with the same tech/era level (that means with clubs and stones), as the city would heal almost instantly between turns Rolling Eyes

I don't have time to play multiple sessions to test the AI, so that's why I ask. Real life is forcing me to concentrate on one game at once, so I have to be choosy Sad

I'd rather wait a year for them to patch things up or for some community patches if the AI is bad, than waste time on it now.

Go play the damn game and answer me dammit Mad

I am playing on Deity and the double speed. My first game ever of Civ and I literally steamroll everything from barbarians to huge cities just by mostly producing horse archers and knights on horses. I had two factions declare war almost immediatly and they are on either side of my towns but I still win easily fighting two fronts. I am also behind on era's but that doesn't seem to be a problem. I just took Germanies cities and he wants badly to make peace a few times now.

If the game is like this I am going to be bored very quickly.

I didn't change any settings besides the difficulty and game speed. Is it because of the double speed?

The AI seems to be cheating. When faced with possibility of loosing a city he magically spawns units (happened once) or spawns barbarians near your least defended town (happened twice) not just a barb village but 3 advanced units for barbarians.

^ Dunno about the barbs, may just be a coincidence, but the civ unit spawn could just be them using gold to buy them directly.

I've lost two games to being declared war on while my army was miniscule. This was on prince difficulty. I've never lost a game in Civ 5, ever. This time around, the AI brings enough units to actually take a city. They always underestimated cities in Civ 5.

Yeah in my current game Gorgo managed to pull off a sneak attack, swordsmen and catapults - stopped the game there last night but I'll be losing at least one of my cities, and the AI just might be a mega bitch and take the capital which would be end times for me. And I just wanted to spam wonders in peace. Razz

Yeah the thing is she's not even my neighbor, all the way on the other side of the continent with several city states in between that I thought she would gobble up first. Should've had scouts keep an eye out for invasion. Embarassed
