When shit hits the fan you know you have probably stuck your dick in the GTX1070 fan Dude Blush

But yeah, give us pics. Personally I'm not a fan of the doodads they glued on then like a lego kit, but if you can make it look good (and yeah, I'd still take it, I need one of 'em puppies)

This bait and switch is so wrong, but as 1080 is only Micron, it's the 1070s that suffer. Not that Micron GDDR5 hasn't gotten better, but Samsung is still OC king. Same shit they pulled with 900 series too, all reviews with Samsung memory and then couple months and every card with Micron..

You could be affected but might not be. I didn't experience any issues with my EVGA model with small overclock.

Ok, I applied the VBIOS update. Now they also offered an overclocking utility in the downloads section. So I am gonna try some overclocking. Any tips?

try to go for 2Ghz core clock, if its stable go for more, if not go for less Very Happy. Leave voltages to stock.

At least this is one way to make sure your launch card has a new bios. Hopefully all the other manufactures listed there eventually update their bios too.

In addition to the memory issues it seems some of the EVGA models of the 1080 and 1070 GPU's lacked thermal pads (EDIT: Only on the VRMs?) resulting in overheating problems.

Perhaps it's in these parts of the world. I also have Samsung on my MSI 1070.

It is also that most of the launch cards were Samsung then due to demand they probably had to switch to Micron to keep up with it so now it's a mixed bag as to which you may get.

Sending my Zotac 1060 AMP back and getting a different model, great card but when i`m playing at night with low volume the Stop/start fan system is pretty distracting because it goes from completely silent to full blast all the time, and often it stays in full blast for a while and full blast on this one is LOUD when you`re playing at low volumes Sad

So i`m gonna try this : Gainward GeForce GTX 1060 Phoenix GS.

If that`s no good then i`ll try the ASUS GeForce GTX 1060 6GB Strix Gaming, if that makes the same amout of noise then i give up Razz

make a custom fan profile with afterburner.. no need to change your card
most of them use the same fan profile..

Yeah, i looked into that but i`ve been reading and the Gainward is supposedly very quiet under full load (The Zotac has had some conflicting reports on noise) and it`s really no hassle for me to exchange the card at all so why not try it Smile

Also just because im curious, why do the the fans on some cards work like that? Wait untill it`s too hot and then blast away. I mean, they can`t really believe that people want their computers spinning on and off all the time under load?

Custom profile solves it im sure, and i have no problem fiddling with that. But im just guessing a lot of people don`t want to or don`t know.
