I actually think he is crazy. The loot itself isn't all that interesting, which is also why it is not worth your time trying to farm for that. I don't know if that was done on purpose by the devs, but you should never have to stop between fights and think about what gems to put into your weapon. And for most of the game you don't have to. Sure you're going to have to upgrade them once every so often, but that should be done every hour or so, not during missions. I think that is his own fault for not seeing that.
In older shooters like the original Shadow Warrior and 2013 remake, explorations isn't all that interesting to some people, mainly because all you will really find are ammo and health pickups. That's dull, especially if you play mostly with your sword, wtf do I need ammo for? People want to find things worth something in the game, not just useless collectibles. I think having randomly generated loot is an improvement to the exploration.
And he talks about going to the levels just for the loot, no I disagree. You go there for the quest rewards, the weapons they give you. You can loot all the chests, but what you really want to find besides the objectives are the uniques that drop weapons. The gems were never the main focus, TB keep saying like it is, it fucking isn't. And again that's his own fault of thinking it is, when it doesn't have to be.
Also I don't know how he runs out of ammo in this game. I started my first character on Hard, move on to insane midway, never ran out. You have a few skill cards dedicated to ammo pickups if you have trouble, but just be smart with your gems.
Exploration was actually pretty interesting and levels had a shitload of secrets containing precious karma(XP) points.
SP Oh about dat totalbiscuit review.. I laughed when he said that he didn't use melee since he got killed too easily or something like that. Melee is what makes this game actually pretty easy even on hard difficulty

He also says in his video melee is useless and just gets you killed...
Apparently I have been doing it wrong my whole playthrough on insane.
forward charged thrust + jump dash jump all + heal
last night i got to the part where you are at your base the first time, spoke to some ninja store dude, got 2 skill points and went to bed.
today i start up the game and load, no objectives, no one to talk to except the old mage dude and the only response is "see you later."
load up an earlier save as they do offer that in the main menu, but the save was way to old, and what's even more broken, you keep all the skill points from the latest save game. so people can pretty much abuse this to get unlimited skill points.
finished after 12h, I liked the remake more but still enjoyed this one, especially towards the end. But the level design and going trough the same lvls over and over was simply meh
Honestly the problem with SW2 is they made a potentially awesome first person diablo game, but fucked up in the content side of things. Had this game launched with end game and proper enemy scaling, it would have been the best attempt at this genre.
Instead they tried to cling to the first remake and in the end we got a mix of ideas that just doesn't work well together.
What was the point of semi-procedurally generated levels with you're making a linear campaign? Imagine Bloodbourne's levels are all from Chalice Dungeons, and not handcrafted like it really is, it wouldn't make sense and people will for good reasons hate it. Instead that stuff was option and mostly for end game. If they were gonna use the procedurally generated levels, make a game around it, not the other way around.

Was stuck there too. The "see you later" isn't meant as a response to what Smith is saying above. Those represent two choices: leave (see you later) or talk to him (whatever his "dialogue" is). Click the stuff next to Smith's name to actually talk to him. I got stuck on that for a while, it's not super obvious

hehe yep, you are exactly right, after restarting the game all over last night, I was stuck there again, and then realized the text "above see you later" is actually clickable even though it just looks like a short story summary. that was a derp moment, but glad I wasn't the only one that derped there
But it gave the game a chance to grow on me. the shotgun is very satisfying, and the fully manual katana slices occasionally produce some soldier of fortunesque gore, which is always a plus
Absolutely digging this game. Really love that Warrsaaw ChainSaw! Gawd damn with some upgrades its quite decent against Elite and Superior units!
32% through now (finished off those side quests and now forced back onto the main story) but yeah no clue why they keep re-hashing maps over and over.. bizarre. The # of enemy and weapon variations is quite excellent yet map design seems like its re-used again and again (ie. same secrets exist exactly as other maps.. pah!)
Dumb question re: all those weapon/power/armour/etc upgrade gems/amulets/etc when it comes to much higher levels they have. Does that mean since I am currently @ ~ Lvl 17 I can still use, say, a 35 Level upgrade gem or does it mean the gem does not become active UNTIL I am Lvl >= 35 OR does it mean this gem works only against <= 35 enemies?

Gotcha! I may try to turn God Mode on as when I die I get ticked off. I would leave all else alone until I finish the game although unlimited ammo would be sweet!

Yes you can. But just try it out, you can put and remove at leisure, even in mission.
Edit: Youll cross paths with a demonic infinite ammo submachinegun . Myself i only use swords now.

Re: Lucky.. yeah know about making weapon/power/armour/skill/etc changes while in a mission.
Found cheats that should work.. even giving me hundreds of Skill Points would be.. although its mostly about dying.
Btw, loving all the BOSS varieties that you face... always loved long ago facing unique bosses with many diverse attacks from them whereas standard units almost always had the same attack. Nowadays even standard units have many attack types!
Indeed.. quite liking the game!

My journey into the Wanglands is complete, I decided to rush it (9 hours on Who Wants Wang, doing only the 50% of the sidequests) because the copypasta was getting tiring, and my Lo was already overpowered enough, slicing through demonic beasts like a guts fetishist.
Even if it was inferior to the 2013 version, with the story which felt pretty wang-y, with the looting and in-game economy being poorly balanced and implemented, and the Hogs who completely dropped the ball with the oppressing deja-vu feel (affecting the bosses themselves too, well..the boss), I still had a decent amount of fun in the end. The design-related flaws were disappointing, it could have been so much more dammit, but at least it was fast-paced enough, pleasant to the eye, with satisfying gore and meaty sound effects, still a consolation in this day and age. I'd give it a ~6,5/10 considering the tragic context*
Wow the derpbiscuit video is hilarious. - never though anyone can play game like this the weird way he does.
I'm about as far as he is into the game on his video, about 4 hours. He's way further into the story but the same level as me somehow, so I guess completely under-levelled for the stuff he's fighting.
And yeah, the way he was trying to play it was just bizarre, loads of shitty upgrades spread around whereas I've just focused on 4 main weapons with a different element on each.. pretty sensible approach I thought. I barely have to change from melee, which I assume is the best way to conserve ammo.
Shadow Warrior has completely passed me by previously so maybe that has something to do with it, but I'm really enjoying it so far.

Gotta say, after 2 story missions and 2 side missions, I'm already bored.
MMO quests, MMO level design, MMO enemies.
Melee and shotguns are pretty much the only redeeming quality for me.
Way too much repetition overall.
Basically, the game is reliant on coop interaction too much to cover up the bland gameplay.
Not sure why the complete change of direction from hard reset and sh 1, which put them on the map.

Yep, the bro-couch looting-oriented experience sadly feels really noticeable. The whole game is geared towards that, the only way for me to have some entertainment was indeed by ditching light/medium firearms completely (unsatisfying and objectively weak, even with the upgrades), and stick to Katanas/short blades + various combos and powers, the sawed-off shotgun and a stock of rocket launchers for the big beasts (depending on their weaknesses to poison, fire and so on).
I skipped great part of the side missions too for that reason, they were samey, the levels were samey and unrewarding, and felt like a chore: "Wang go to X->take Y->kill Z"..good Wang, now do it again!" - and all for earning credits that are nearly useless since you get the goodies from playing anyway
If one sticks to the main "story" only and to melee/close-range combat, then the game isn't too bad, just shallow, which is a shame. The Wang deserves better, if they go down this road the next one will become a moba
@Bob: same here, I practically never used ADS in the game, as it almost felt like a handicap.
i'm playing on highest dif. mmo bullet sponginess to the max.
Why would you deliberately "ruin' your gaming experience? Hard difficulty is more than enough I mean, what's the point? I remember players complaining that SW1 had too many bulletsponges but this time around on normal and hard difficulty it's not the case.
Although..if you are playing alone insane might not be that bad... I was experimenting with shop upgrades reloading the save game and I put my difficulty on insane, and I totally forgot about it and after that killed the second main boss. I was a bit surprised that it took longer than expected and I was getting hit considerably harder than earlier, but only when he died I noticed I didn't switch back to hard.
PS You should try going insane in 4 players co-op..Now this is just...
