Well, I can say I uninstalled the store app some time ago and haven't had any problems whatsoever so far (all search functions also working properly). About the windows firewall, I never disable it, the additional security it provides is welcome.

I guess it's very much possible then, that me setting the firewall to manual just to get win update working every time, would bork the upgrade when upon reboot the firewall would not be on auto start. However, it is a changed behavior by the OS since the anniversary update, as I did updates the same way before, and the search bar would never brake. then it happened twice in a row after anni upd.

Anyways, too lazy to go check the exact combo that causes it, as i've solved the issue quickly a while ago, since I knew exactly what I've changed. But it's a good example of self caused issues by "tweaking" the OS.

Wait what?
People really uninstall even that?
For what fucking reason?! Laughing

And then they come and post about problems with their OS.

Ok very late to the party, looking for info.

Does the assisted windows 10 upgrade loophole still work? I know MS ended the free upgrades.

I have a win 7 sp1 build which is activated I THINK via Daz loaded. Wondered if there is an easy way to upgrade for free and stay activated?

I download the anniversary update, it prepares shit after downloading, I say no when it wants to restart (because I want to update later), but now the fucking update needs to be downloaded again

I'm using the update tool, it's utterly retarded. My connection is unstable atm, it cuts off for a few minutes every now and then. Every time that happens, the tool forgets what already was downloaded Confused I downloaded once to 67% and a second time to 54%, now it's starting from 0 again!? Is this normal?
I guess I'll update when my connection is fixed.

Here is the link for win 10 english international 64 bits, straight from ms site:
https://software-download.microsoft.com/pr/Win10_1607_EnglishInternational_x64.iso?t=9a63a19e-af08-402c-98b0-0434019c7386&e=1476651196&h=e8693321b4d304d8fb784c8e00d2dccc

valid for 24h. If you use that media tool site on some other OS than win then it'll let you download straight isos. Havent tried maybe tricking user agent does it too.

But i still see no reason to remove such an important feature like the Event Log.

Is it to free up some MBytes on the 32GB SSD with the OS on? Or to reduce the CPU usage by ~0.5%?

And windows will stay activated?

Or is there a windows 10 loader I need to download?

I've heard people can still upgrade and get activated still so it probably works, Microsoft probably wants as many as possible to "convert" to Windows 10 so this stays for now I guess. Smile

Yeah, I just upgraded a Windows 7 install successfully using the assistive technology upgrade from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/accessibility/windows10upgrade

Apparently you can still upgrade for free if you have disabilities... there is never a check for it though. Rolling Eyes

LTSB.

LTSB and forget about any Windows Store games like Forza and GoW4 etc. Personally I couldn't care lessa bout WS games but it is worth knowing if you are installing LTSB onto a gaming PC.

Witcher 3 could be WS only, and I still wouldn't have that store shit. Besides, Forza will be cracked pretty soon Wink GOW4?, well, that belongs there, lol Laughing

Is it possible to only have to input your Windows account password when you manually lock your running system by WIN + L?

And not asking for it when you normally boot up your PC?

Why though? If you are afraid of others logging in to your system what would hold them from restarting your pc to just access everything instead?

Had some troubles when I updated to the Anniversary Update, since then I did a rollback and totatlly disabled windows update. Could that be fixed by now? Or should I be start thinking on changing my 2500k + Asus p8p67, for something more new and with drivers support for windows 10 officially...

Some odd USB thing far as I could tell, might be possible to either update it's driver or just disable it from bios if you have no need of it. Smile

I wasnt that much bothered by the driver thingy, a bit mad because without the update its all fine. I was troubled by the BSODs while playing CSGO... Dont know what caused them, by it just happend with the update, before it had no trouble and after the rollback same, no bsod since those ones.

I dont know why that triple posted... sorry....
