He had some neat ideas early on with Geneforge but he's been stuck making remakes of remakes for decades, never getting anywhere with it. He's understandably bitter and tired.

Geneforge series was brilliant. Avernum games are good free roamers.
Avadon is just linear bioware-esque rubbish. I wish Jeff would make another Geneforge game.

TBH I love Exile. They were great in their time.

He should really partner with some people who can do the art and engine stuff for him and use a modern engine for a change i really like his writing and his game mechanics are always solid but he uses the same tech and look for decades now and it wasn't really good to begin with.
Edit: yeah seems like he got that as well after reading his latest blog entry, good for him.

Many hours playing Exile in college. I remember getting stuck in the game somewhere and unable to move on in the story. That was back before the Internet helped so I gave up. lol
