BBC Two renewed the series for a second season on 27 May 2013
I've just grabbed it from usenet so I haven't watched it yet.
Anyways, I really hope there won't be a third season.It would be ridiculous.The series has been good so far but it really should end now.
There is only one way it can go on and not turn into a turd and that is if they introduce a new serial killer and a new story
PS OK.. lol .. they did the same thing as at the end of the first season

At first I didn't quite get why he was all of the sudden

He didn't really have to confess to her, not really. Most evidence was circumstantial+ he had Katie to cover for all his murders.At first I didn't get it but it seems, that after reading her journal, he sensed that she was the right person for him after all his "adventures", so he wanted to get under her skin and sort of do what Hannibal did to Clarice.And although she did say he repulsed her I don't think it was true seeing as how she behaved & looked at him in the end when he was shot and dying. It's like two "broken" lonely people have found each other but she can't still admit to herself1 that she is attracted to him. Probably repulsed AND attracted at the same time.
Did you notice that when she got to Paul and her last lover she didn't even hesitated for a second and rushed towards Paul not her fellow police officer who she shared a bed with? It seemed strange, no? =)
I seriously hope they'll finish the series the way I think it should end. Something like Stoker
On the other hand, maybe I'm just imagining things lol
Besides, there are still some moments I didn't quite get like

I have the feeling the Paul reminds her of her father, that is why she has ambivalent feelings toward him, i.e. she is both terrified and sexually attracted to him.
During the scene with Paul and his daughter, Stella was on the verge of tears. I read elsewhere here that that was because she was moved to see a softer side of Paul. I don't think so. I think she is moved because she is reminded of her father, or because that was the kind of relationship she craved with her father. Considering this, it is even possible that Paul was not necessarily being a good father, but re-enacting a scene he imagined would move Stella; that he was still playing her.
In the final scene, in the heat of the moment she has a very visceral reaction, and instead of running toward the young cop, with whom she had had sex just the night before, she runs to Paul. We can see the outraged reaction of the young cop (whose name I don't recall right now), and the realization that he had been right all along, that she wanted him because he reminded her of Paul.
But she cares about Paul, because their relationship is intimate in a sick way. Not unlike Paul and Katie at all.
Will it have 3rd season? Overall 2nd had nice plot but ending was meh

"Talks of series 3 was announced on Nov 13, 2014. There are no definite plans, but the star, Gillian Anderson, is hopeful there could be a third series, and that ideas for another series have been planned.
Hopefully they wont ruin it with some bullshit plot
