I've never cared about the original Prey and I didn't find it particularly interesting..but this one ... I'm most definitely looking forward to the new game from the developers of DMoMM\Arx Fatalis\Dishonored

1) Lenovo Legion 7 (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX 3080 16Gb, 32Gb DDR4, SSD 1TB +2TB

2) SFFPC (streaming via Moonlight+ Sunshine)

Seems a far cry from the first game, but then I never really liked the first game. Can't wait!

Looks great to me, if a bit too action-oriented.

But I'm getting serious System Shock/Dead Space vibes.

There were some leaked documents awhile back where Arkane said they wanted the game to feel like a System Shock successor

I'm fine with some focus on action. A bit tired of the "can't fight back" kind of horror/survival games (alien, outlast, etc.)

I'm not a fan of the "can't fight back" gameplay, either.

However, I don't think it's a black/white thing. I prefer a balanced approach, and I particularly enjoy the ability to avoid action if I want to - or to be rewarded for "smart" action if I invest in it.

System Shock and its sequel had a nice balance - where the Bioshock franchise was too much about shooting.

Alien Isolation went too far in the other direction, where the impotence was frustrating to me.

Yeah, if only the end had come about 8-10 hours sooner Smile The gameplay pretty much exhausted itself after 6-8 hours, in my opinion.

It's too bad, because the atmosphere remains unmatched by any other horror game, I think.

I was hoping they would show a bit more, but the combo sci-fi, Arkane, and the fact that you can shapeshift into a mug already have my interest. Very Happy Laughing

In all seriousness, there is potential in the idea, as long as they manage to make those black thingies interesting enough. (They didn't look very threatening, but I guess time will tell)
I loved Prey :'(

Yep, the first one was amazing, from the sci-fi human harvest story to the design of the levels. But this ones story seems too..banal, and the enemies.. i dont know.. fighting shadows that morph into mugs and chairs may not be my thing Laughing

Trailers tend to be more action-based than the game itself, though. Like how Dishonored trailers are full of stabby stuff.

Could be the game itself is a bit more relaxed.

Probably not very cerebral, though.

Finally there's proper gameplay:

Some odd design decisions, but I liked what I saw. Razz

Besides the gamepad aiming, the probably 30fps lock and the added motion blur - the actual gameplay seems interesting though.
I like that you don't need to kill enemies with weapons only, but can defeat them with physics too or just fool them with your (mimic) powers.

Shapeshifting into different things sounds great. Will there be any female NPCs I could master this ability with?? Laughing

PS CryEngine huh? Let's see if Arkane turns this into yet another performance disaster

Looks ok.

They saw that no one else was going for another _____shock game soon so they made one, I guess Razz
Shotgun seems right out of Bioshock, the cannon gun is interesting and the gameplay seems to be fairly open ended.

There seems to be some derpmatic derperation (5:25 - 5:30) in there, hopefully there will be a option to turn it off Mad
Oh and it would be nice if it doesn't run like utter shite, too

Syndicate reboot was one of the best games of the year. You missed out on amazing coop multiplayer. The missions had stages much like wolfenstein enemy territory, and then your abilities and objectives were familiar of the syndicate universe.

The multiplayer was more faithful to the franchise than Satellite Reign.

It has nothing to do with the old game, they used the name because it sounds good and it was available. So if you're looking for a reboot then you're out of luck.

I think it looks quite good. Reminds me of System Shock/Bioshock and Deus Ex.. Actually one of very few games who has captured my attention recently.
