Derpvision kinda makes sense when the character has other supernatural abilities. But not in tacticool shooters, a "Mafia" game, or a realistic scifi universe like Deus Ex.
imho it makes sense in this universe and at that stage of technological development seeing (via some augment) humans\augemented people through walls+ everything that can be used to access this or that area
Highlighting items is a bit different though. Gunz etc is OK.. Bottles and some other stuff? How can it be determined whether they are useful or not?
I am ignoring all this magic crap. The only interest that I have on this is being kept alive by the official promise that the game will be playable without special powers.
Yea, but this time it's official. You'll be able to refuse those derpy powers.
Ah I see, that's very nice from Arkane
and whats really nice is that instead of saying players can turn the features off or not use them (but the game is still designed around them ala thief 2014, hitman absolution, etc), they went through the game to make sure it worked with no powers. Everything can be scaled or explored all without blink, it will just take longer of course.

yeah, it does work, but the core game mechanics and AI are geared towards the usage of powers.
I never got the same satisfaction from full panthering in dishonored, as I do in thief series. So for the 2 dlc's, I used powers and the game was much more satisfying. it clearly felt as the game reacted better to the player when he used the powers.

True. Playing the modern Splinter Cells or Hitmans or Dei Ex, it almost feels like abusing bugs in the AI and gameplay systems, certainly not what the derperloper intended and tweaked the AI for. The retarded "just don't use it" advice is obviously coming from idiots that do use it but feel excused to use it because you have the "option" to ignore it, or from people that enjoy pixel-hunting for that specific pixel where, if your character stands on, it is not seen by the AI, therefore "stealth".
I'd say Splinter Cell Blacklist is actually pretty "hardcore" when it comes to stealth and all. Especially compared to other modern games that have stealth elements. It's probably the only "modern" game so far where stealth feels more or less challenging and AI isn't a 5 year old retard. I'd even say stealth is better there than in Thief and SCB enemies definitely gave me a hard time, more than Thief games enemies.
