I think it will become clearer if/when we find out about the skullmaps. Just my opinion

The ones the US military use require protective clothing, and all simunition requires eye protection. Various rounds also require minimum distances. They shoot between 300-600 feet per second and people say they hurt like hell.
If they're using the rounds that don't fire any projectiles, then it doesn't make sense at all as we can clearly see Ed being hit with something.
The guns are still going off and forcing *something* out. Meaning if you were to shoot someone at point blank range, the gun itself could still hurt them (not the round, the shot itself, the gasses and explosion). Loads of people have died this way. Or you could at least blind them.
Plus *anything* stuck within the barrel of a gun can be fired out as a projectile. Maybe not over any meaningful distance, but certainly at close range.
And I'm also confused about their programming. Aren't they programmed to not want to harm anything or anyone? Then why do they shoot at all, especially if it hurts? And how are they able to shoot (like where he went to shoot Ed) if they believe their weapons work and that it will kill someone?
I'm guessing I'm overlooking some things, but the simunition thing doesn't sound fool proof when it comes to hurting people (especially children and eyes) |
I think we have to make a suspension of belief here, we are talking about a show that has printing of human like androids after all.

Spoiler: | it might be that Man In Black tries to liberate the synchs. Here he says that he will save them. And in another trailer he stabs Maeve Millay the black hooker and she wakes up in the surgery room when the WW people try to fix her. |

I watched it a few weeks ago, still a great movie and concept.
I'm currently reading Congo, his books are generally really good, if you haven't read them.

You can watch the second episode of "Westworld" earlier than expected. HBO has released the new episode of the sci-fi breakout series early via HBO Now, HBO Go and HBO On Demand, and it's not because of a technical glitch.
The premium cable channel released the second episode earlier as a way to get the show's second hour out from under the second presidential debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton on Sunday, October 9. |
Thats a nice surprise, downloading now
Empty again

Poohaa, if they keep it up it will surely land in my list of great shows.
The acting, music, atmosphere, mystery, the one on ones

Ep 2 is more quality stuff. The good writing and heavy atmosphere/tension is really winning me over. Great cast doesn't hurt either. I get the same kind of deep thoughts and contemplation from this as I do when reading some good old Isaac Asimov books.
Really hope they have a solid storyline planned out already and it doesn't drag it's feet like a lot of TV series tend to do. Gimme more!

I think the bullets are low velocity and only explode when interacting with the synth's skin. So real people getting shot at feel like they are getting shot with a BB gun at most.
That's the simplest solution I see for it. |
yes that makes sense if they get hit in the eye right? lol ffs

Did they get hit in the eye during the show? We will see if they do. |
You can't get hit in the eye with a pellet and expect to just shrug it off is what I am saying here.
