Holy shit, that was brilliant!
I hope the production delays didn't hurt the later episodes too much. The pilot was phenomenal!

Just saw it
And the music Smiled when I recognized those first few notes as Black hole sun.
Glad my hype didn't end up in utter disappointment.

Damn, that was just great. The pilot has set such a high bar, I really hope they can keep it up..don't ruin it pls!
The concept is intriguing, the characters are interesting, the acting seriously solid, dat music, dat direction.
@VonMisk: absolutely, that scene was excellent.

Great show so far. Did I miss how the shooting worked and if they were using real bullets?
Spoiler: | After Teddy shoots the raiders in Dolores homestead he tries to shoot Ed Harris but the bullets have no affect. The only thing I could think of was either his rifle had real bullets and his pistol had blanks, or Ed is a robot who has gone complete AWOL and didn't care he had been shot. |

It doesn't explain how that works though
Spoiler: | It's not a digital representation, it's a living breathing world. Do they fire real bullets? They must if they can kill others who are stuck in that world. So I'm not sure how the shooting works either... unless I missed it. |
|
Spoiler: | You're correct, my answer wasn't complete. They didn't give a good explanation for this yet. When Ed Harris was shot, bullet holes appeared on his jacket - so some projectile is involved. |

Spoiler: | In the original movie the guns had a sensor that detected body heat and would refuse to fire if it detected heat (=human body). I'm curious how they explain bullet holes but no wounds - would have made more sense if the gun just refused to go off. |
In any case, I enjoyed the episode a great deal.

Spoiler: | I don't think Ed Harris's character is a guest, I think he's a host who thinks he's a guest or is playing a guest.
|
I guess we'll know soon enough

Was this a continuation?
They mentioned thirty years ago (maths is of) but in the background there was a globe with what looked like the old company name on it, when they went 'downstairs'

About such dilemma, I was reading this on RT yesterday, from Nolan himself:
Quote: | “It’s not the guns,” Nolan said. “It’s the bullets. We thought a lot about this. In the original film, the guns won’t operate guest on guest, but we felt like the guests would want to have a more visceral experience here. So when they’re shot it has sort of the impact. They’re called simunitions. The U.S. military trains with rounds like the ones we’re talking about. But there’s a bit of an impact, a bit of a sting. So it’s not entirely consequence-free for the guests.” |

(There are other explanations too in case there are doubts left)
