Holy shit, that was brilliant!

I hope the production delays didn't hurt the later episodes too much. The pilot was phenomenal!

And the music So Much Win Smiled when I recognized those first few notes as Black hole sun.

Glad my hype didn't end up in utter disappointment. Razz

I didn't understand any of it, but I enjoyed the pilot. Sad Very Happy

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

Strong beginning, but the pilot merely scratched the surface.
At least one of the main characters hasn't even been introduced yet. (that dude from the trailers)
I'm sure that more details how the world works will be explained in the following episodes.
There are definitely some deeper layers, I just hope it will be more about the scientific/AI/singularity angle and not only reduced to a moralistic "Android lives matter" kind of thing.
In the meantime, I most look forward to Ed Harris' quest for the deeper game and the abusal, rape and killing of the hosts without consequence.
It's HBO, so I hope they're gonna put some really sick, perverted shit in there. Laughing

Was this a continuation?

They mentioned thirty years ago (maths is of) but in the background there was a globe with what looked like the old company name on it, when they went 'downstairs'

About such dilemma, I was reading this on RT yesterday, from Nolan himself:

Quote:
“It’s not the guns,” Nolan said. “It’s the bullets. We thought a lot about this. In the original film, the guns won’t operate guest on guest, but we felt like the guests would want to have a more visceral experience here. So when they’re shot it has sort of the impact. They’re called simunitions. The U.S. military trains with rounds like the ones we’re talking about. But there’s a bit of an impact, a bit of a sting. So it’s not entirely consequence-free for the guests.”

https://editorial.rottentomatoes.com/article/11-rules-of-westworld-hbos-killer-robot-theme-park-series/
(There are other explanations too in case there are doubts left)
