5 clicks for your crack...
clone = righ click --> mount in deamon-tools, play

Ya right...in your fantasy world

Right click --> mount image --> start hider program --> play --> unhide
or
Right click --> mount image --> disable CD --> disable node --> play --> enable CD --> enable nod
or
Right click --> mount image --> disable nod --> open case --> unplug drives --> play --> enable nod --> plug back drives

All 3 from above has to be done everytime you want to play...crack you do it once

so -->

With a standard PC configuration, this is true. But if you get rid of the IDE optical drives, and get an USB enclosure, all this is reduced to mount and play (it costs less then an original game does, so I think it's worth it). And some games do need updates, like Silent Hunter III and Rome: Total war, these 2 kept crashing to desktop, cracked patches were released after I've given up trying to play them, too bad, they were pretty good games (maybe part of the publisher's strategy is to release unstable versions so that the crack is rendered useless after the patch is released Twisted Evil ). But nothing beats "copy crack --> play", and Reloaded saved me some space that those SecuROM clones took.

dont get me wrong, i have nothing against cracks. i prefer them myself, but when a new patch comes out it takes some time until the patched crack is released, and when you only have the .bin/.cue or .iso you are pretty much fucked and have to wait, but if you leeched the clone you can use that until the new crack comes out.

I usually prefer cracked releases too, but if it works then you won't hear me complain.
Clones are a bit more work but have given me lots of gaming pleasure!

If it's free then we shouldn't complain...

You can cross out step 2 and 3. Most of my games its just:
Right Click --> Mount image --> play. Thats it. So if that your argument for simpler use of cracks, then buddy, you are wrong.

SIMPLER would mean, I could teach someone else how to use those things easily. But when some people don't even know hwo to get to the program folder (they have problems even finding the target of the game's shortcut, which cuts it down to at 2 click process) Right Click, mount and play is very attractive.

Oh, I have to do more work with Starforce, I have to disable the parallel ATA controller in the device manager, but because i don't burn or use alot of CDs, I just keep it off most of the time.

Like i said in another of my post, most games i played get beat before a patch is actually released...as far as i can think of, Vampire masquerade bloodline was the only one that i needed a patch to go further.

But i was just trying to bring the point that clones dont own cracks like you said Very Happy

of course clones down OWN cracks. They are just simpler. Playing with cracks saves space. And are less of a hassle when it come to PC which need the extra work. But Clones are not the abomination upon the world alot of fools make them up to be.

if my post sounded like i think clones own cracks, i apologize, wasnt my intention at all Wink
both cracks and clones have their pros and cons, everybody has to decide on his/her own what to use
