Due for a phone upgrade and I think iPhone 7 is the obvious choice but can't decide. 256GB is too much but not sure about 7 or 7 Plus. It's gonna be a 24 month contract and I'm hearing the iPhone next year is going to worth waiting for instead. But I cant go another 12 months with the same Sony Xperia Z3 I currently have. Also considering Sony Xperia XZ out next month or maybe even giving Samsung a go...
Decisions decisions :/

Just got the jet black one and it looks amazing and is blazing fast compared to my old iPhone 6...
Battery is a good improvement too.

The Plus is a no brainer. Much better display, camera, performance, UI (Plus UI behaves differently in landscape, in addition to the extra space), etc. |

Please state the amazing improvements from S3 to 4 to 5 to 6 to 7, and what exactly "suits your needs" there, that an iPhone 5S, 6, 6S doesn't. The only legitimate one left is USB storage, and if that is the only "need" you have over security, privacy and upgradeability, that's pitiful.
Under Jobs, Apple removed magnetic media, optical media, Flash. All these were considered problematic. I don't happen to think 3.5mm falls in the same category, but many people were vocal about those too.
At the end of the day, every purchase shows support. If you buy a Samsung device, you support Samsung, and you support a terrible ecosystem. If you do not want to support Apple, then don't. No one says you have to buy a 7 if you have a 6S or 6 or SE or 5. It's all in your mind.
About design being similar to 6S, http://daringfireball.net/2016/09/design_as_branding
BTW, Pixel phone looks like 6S also. The horror!

It's not about Apple, but actually getting a large phone and getting used to it. I was wrong then. 
For me, it's mostly about the additional real estate.

Got a 128GB iPhone 7. Not plus which according to some might be a no-brainer but after the Sony Xperia Z3 I was looking for a smaller phone.
