http://www.pushsquare.com/news/2016/08/you_can_play_battlefield_1_from_31st_august_on_ps4_for_free

Quote:
The game's open beta will go live from 31st August on the PlayStation 4. That's right, in just over two weeks' time, you'll be able to take the title for a spin on Sony's new-gen system – and EA's not even making you pre-order to get access.

Okay, so you will want an Insider Account if you intend to get early entry into the online stress test, and you can sign up for one of those here.

https://www.battlefield.com/community/insider

But if you're cool with waiting a few extra days, then you'll just need to check the PlayStation Store when the client goes live. We'll, of course, let you know when it's available.

The beta will include the Sinai Desert map from the new trailer, and will boast two classic modes: Conquest and Rush.

This game is fucking phenomenal!

I played the multiplayer beta a lot and I really enjoyed it but for me this game is without a doubt all about the campaign and it is does not disappoint! We all know how great the Battlefield games look so no surprise that the visuals are amazing with some great attention to detail but the idea of playing as different characters in different wars is excellent and with the cutscenes driving the individual stories forward, it gives a very real feeling of purpose fighting as each of these different people. The game is bloody, violent and gloriously visceral with a vast arsenal of weapons and seriously impressive level of environmental destruction! The feeling of being in battle is perfect and the feeling of being overrun and outnumbered at times makes for some totally epic gameplay!

I dont think Im going to bed tonight lol.

Great, glad to hear the review outlets weren't paid off. I'm not a big BF MP fan but always enjoyed the SP - so it sounds like this will be right up my street.

My only concern is how long the SP is? Let us know when yu complete it!

Following the prologue lies a fabulously produced five-part mini story called “Through Mud And Blood”, which focuses on a small British tank regiment in the run-up to the infamous Battle of Cambrai in 1918. Despite its short run-time (we completed it in around three hours), it packs a real punch and is truly explorative in the manifold ways in which you get to play.

That's from GQ.

However good the SP is, if it's just 3 hours long I won't be buying this until it's a lot cheaper!

3 hours is just one of 6 stories that make up the campaign so I would say all 6 stories are around 12 hours in total which is reasonable for a shooter these days.

Through Mud and Blood was fantastic!

That was the first one I played. I then completed 'Friends in High Places' which focuses on dogfighting. I then played through half of the 3rd story which was some Italian guy Very Happy

The war stories are numbered but it looks like they can be played in any order I think. I played the game for about 5 hours and got through 2.5 stories. Theres just so much variety to the gameplay too! I presume more stories will be added as DLC which will be great!
Even without multiplayer I think the review scores will be high for this one Very Happy

I dunno if Im just a slow gamer or Kotaku lie but they reckon they got through the campaign in 5 hours. Seemed more like 10 hours for me but I did do a lot of missions stealthily ...
