I hope this and Froza will finally wake up the scene,Win10 needs to be worked on,aeppx at least, despite its draconian limitation seems to be quite easy to crack/bypass...

Aside from QB(which bypassed) non of win10 actually got cracked or worked on.. lack of interest or win10 emulation?

well problem is its basically OS-level DRM and the way how you run it that it gets side-loaded in blackbox outside of normal environment ... and they even put the usual DRM under the hood (like Arxlan in case of GoWUE)

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2016/09/gears-of-war-4-reveals-offline-lan-free-matchmaking-dlc-smooth-4k-on-pc/

Quote:

..
In many ways, Gears of War 4 looks a lot like its Xbox 360 siblings, both in terms of general gameplay—duck-and-cover combat against bizarre foes in a dilapidated, near-future war zone—and in terms of how the game looks. Gears 1 was a visual revelation on the 360. Every sequel has looked damned good, but no entry in the series has since offered the same jaw-drop factor as that original holy-cow lighting engine.

At a hands-on event in Microsoft Studios' Vancouver offices, we saw Gears 4 on Xbox One systems, and it looked solid. Some cooler material-based lighting effects on show offered noticeably "next-gen" improvements, but the game's campaign mode still stuck to the dated-looking 30fps console standard, and the effects on display didn't seem worth the visual slowdown. (Worth noting, the console version's multiplayer mode removes some visual effects to reach a locked 60fps.)
So many toggles!
I scribbled down every visual toggle in the PC version's menus, just so you have a sense of how customizable your experience is, especially compared to other UWP games for Windows 10:

Dynamic resolution scaling (turn on/off, pick a percentage)
Enable async compute
Enable tiled resources
Lock/unlock frame limit
Disable vsync
Field of view
Display performance stats
Character texture detail
World texture detail
Effects texture detail
Lighting texture detail
Texture filtering (up to 16x anisotropic)
Anti-aliasing quality
Temporal AA sharpening
Foliage draw distance
World level of detail
Character level of detail
Motion blur quality
Motion blur intensity
Light shaft quality
Light scattering quality
Lens flare quality
Bloom quality
Shadow quality
Capsule shadow quality
Screen space shadow quality
Ambient occlusion quality
Ambient occlusion intensity
Post process quality
Screen space reflections
Enable environment reflections
Enable refractions
Particle spawn rate
Sharpening

...and a separate menu for "Real-time cinematics settings."

To be fair, of course, I had been spoiled. My first impressions of the game's latest preview build came courtesy of a high-end PC decked out with a GTX 1080 graphics card, an i7 processor, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and a low-latency 4K monitor. With nearly every setting at "Ultra," I was getting a locked 60fps in all modes. Not only that, but these settings were clearly exceeding what the Xbox One could muster, with higher-res textures and much more noticeable bloom and light-contrast effects, along with more object density and more intense particle swarms.

"DirectX 12 is a big part of how we're able to get additional performance out of the PC," Technical Director Mike Raynor told Ars. "The DX12 graphics API takes away a bunch of layers from the developer and hardware. It's letting us have more direct control over what the GPU's doing... We've completely parallelized the rendering system, meaning we're utilizing and running more CPU cores. One big focus we had was to lower the simulation cost to give headroom for the GPU. A lot of games out there have monster GPU but get framelocked because you're CPU bound. There's a huge upper range we support with what we've done."

I also jacked up settings beyond my rig's near-ultra default and dropped the resolution to 1440p, which still looked gorgeous and rocked a 60fps refresh. I didn't have as much luck pushing some of the settings into the menus' crazy-high "insane" setting, which might be because, according to Raynor, that setting has been offered for future systems and SLI power users: "The game will scale with new hardware that will come out," he said. "You need a really high spec to get in there. It looks awesome, but it's very GPU-hungry." (While I couldn't test Raynor's assertions that the game has been optimized to make the most of SLI graphics card performance, he insisted that users would see substantial boosts if they double-card.)

Future systems, Mr. Raynor? Can you elaborate on that and whether it means we should expect Gears 4 to play nicely on, say, Project Scorpio?

"When we built this game over the last three years and went to a new engine, we optimized for a new console generation," Raynor said. "We've made a foundational technology for the franchise to work over the next 10 years. We've authored content with 4K in mind. We support 4K texture resolutions, additional features. We're set up to take advantage of future hardware, more horsepower, and more capabilities. We're not gonna hit reset [with the next game] and be thinking, 'How are we going to do this? We're not ready for it.' I can't go into specifics about Gears 4, but look at what we're doing on Windows, what we're doing on Gears 4—it looks pretty good for what we'll be able to do on future hardware."

In the meantime, if you want to be charmed all over again by what a Gears game can push visually hand-in-hand with the latest Unreal graphics engine, you'll want to play all of its modes—campaign, versus, and "Horde" co-op—on a decent PC. If you can't quite get up to 4K resolution, you'll still drool a lot harder at the smoke, fog, lighting, and explosion effects when they run at the highest framerate your screen can handle.

It doesn't have that already?

Huh would be funny if the user had to activate the key on a XBox One as to register it to his LIVE account and then the user would need to use said LIVE account for his Windows 10 Microsoft account too for the game to show up in the Win10 store as purchased.

EDIT: Yep the Win10 store has a key redeem function. Smile
(At least the 11608 version of it, 11608.1001.41.0 should be the latest current version.)

Would prefer Microsoft to do a Ubisoft and maintain both a LIVE and a Steam version but I guess they're trying the EA way instead with their own client and gradually adding and fixing stuff although at a pretty slow pace.
(It's convenient to use but it's not exactly consume friendly with how locked down stuff is and the pre-order implementation is a bit of a joke with only the most expensive edition available and at a price level even exceeding EA and Ubisoft's bigger franchises.)

EDIT: Of course if their goal was only to cover and grow the Windows 10 install base then Steam would probably be a viable alternative (With the games using DirectX 12) but they do want to make their own store front competitive and with the way they're unifying the Win10 OS across PC, console and phone they're now trying via this cross-purchase promotion.
(First and second party licenses at least, I don't see Gears hitting Steam any time soon or even Epic's own launcher software at that.)

(And keeping some franchises XBox exclusive - e.g Halo, mostly. - to sell the upcoming XBox OneS and Scorpio models.)

but the ubisoft way is gay as well, if you really want to have it on steam you need to buy it directly on steam and it starts through your ubiplay account either way. so thats useless

the main reason ms does this is cause of the xboner, they want everything on ONE plattform. and that approach isnt bad at all, though how they do it atm isnt really great. but you will get used to it, till 5-6 years ago everybody and their mom bitched about steam and now they all suck gabens cock (and nothin changed to the better on steam, its more like everything got worse the last years about restrictions etc)

True that with the way the game has to go through Steam for the files and then UPlay for license activation and UPlay functionality (Bonus unlocks and such.) is far from ideal requiring the user to maintain two separate software clients.
(And on occasion also some third party DRM server.)

It also separates Steam bought and direct from Ubisoft bought games so if you were to have Assassin's Creed Unity on UPlay and then redeem a Steam version you would have two copies on UPlay though one would prompt for starting Steam if you tried to download it.
(Would be a bit easier if it was clearly marked as a Steam version in some way.)

EDIT: Of course if Steam were to reach full control as a single client Valve could do almost as they wanted, even more than they already do so having competition is good.

i dont know , i just dont trust MS not to fuck it up .... and OS-level DRM just rubs me the wrong way especially with all the UWP limits ... yeah took me quite a while to trust steam/uplay but I am still backing up everything i buy ... maybe the paranoia is a bit overkill,
yeah I understand why for xboner devs the idea is cool and simpler , but from a standpoint of a customer who see xbox as a useless gatget it does nothing at all for me (especially with the experience of MS marking my legally bought windows/Office as pirated pretty much ewvery other update), only additional pain in the ass and a store which is on the level of GfWL/oldGreenSteam being buttfucked by iOS

EDIT: yeah competition is good , but this is like if Trabi went to compete with Mercedes

Does it show you getting the pre-order Brothers to the End and Vintage Del Gear Pack unlocked too? It seems if you look at the Ultimate Edition or Pre-Order one from the Windows store you can click on that DLC to bring up its page so I am curious if it says installed or if the real codes from MS are different since I assume these are NVidia codes that they are selling.
