So my relative wants a new laptop, gave me a bunch of shitty options to choose from. I can build a great desktop computer for great value vs performance but when it comes to laptops I don't know a one fucking thing about it, the price they're looking for is maximum:
€576 / $647
So in my effort to find something that isn't total trash I found these two:

Now in my brain the Acer is the better choice because it has an SSD (which also happens to be 256gb) and it's also cheaper (due to being a demo example, according to the store at least)... The HP one has a better and newer CPU though. Both are 15 inch (which is what they want).
I've looked at what's available, but I don't really know how to compare shitty vs shitty here. Both these two laptops have dedicated graphics cards but maybe it's better to go for an integrated Intel HD at this price point?
I don't know, help please, it's driving me up the wall trying to min max this crap. :'(

The 940M and especially the 940MX (with GDDR 5) shit on the other notebooks you posted. Obviously the second one is a fucking huge thing at 17.3"
You will not find a notebook with an IPS display at this price point of course, but you don't have to stick to some intel graphics shit with sub full-hd resolution either. Also the examples I found are with normal HDDs, but you can most likely find similar configurations with 500GB HDD-> 128GB SSD and 1000GB HDD -> 256GB SSD.

Yeah, look out for one with the newest processor generation, some dual titan xp like mobile gpu and preferably amoled 200hz display. Also order me a fucking whopper menu and a brand new gold plated Ferrari 458 from the spare money that you'll have after buying that notebook with <573€

Do they even play games on it?
Back when I needed a laptop for work I always bought it with the mindset of: Ooh I might be able to play some during travelling. Well... like usual I ended up just working and studying on the damn thing and do most other things on a comfortable desktop.
So... what's the function of this laptop?
