Path of Shadows is an upcoming non-commercial student project in which the player character can teleport between shadows. As seen in the prototype video below, it resembles an over-the-shoulder Mark of the Ninja, with a protagonist who is wearing a magical glyph version of Isaac Clarke’s RIG read-out. Limiting the teleportation ability to shadowy areas suggests prescribed paths through levels, a puzzler’s approach to stealth. As is often the case, the sneaky protagonist feels compelled to creep through temples, silently murdering guards. A goddess instructs, “do not bother remembering anything”, which sounds exactly like the sort of thing that somebody would say if they’d killed you and taken command of your soul in the recent past so they could make you smash up a rival deity’s temple.
I want this so badly! I played the demo and I thought it was really great for what it was. It had potential for more and now that it's a proper game, it should be bloody amazing.
lmao after all these years and the gameplay/stealth is still absolutely broken and crap. it also looks tacky. I don't like the visuals at all, very lazy and hipstery.
As long as you are standing in shadows, you are invisible. And then go near the enemies and do 1-button kills that don't leave a body either. And they generally can't see you out of shadows as well, not your shadow either. The Batman games have better stealth gameplay.
Oh man, the character changed so much. He looks pretty cool now, but I did love how he looked way back in the first demo, more like a mysterious shadow as opposed to very much a human now. Still, I'm glad the game seems to keep improving and I can't wait to play the final thing as I loved that initial demo.
