Just finished watching it last night and what a fucking brilliant show. Super acting by pretty much the entire cast. Emmy Rossum delivers the best performance of the lot closely followed by William Macy. Season 3 & 4 were truly the high points of this show.
I have to echo everything that Sauronich said in the first page of this thread. Really wish I had held it off till they ended season 7 and binge watch that too. I have noticed that the shows on Showtime tend to create a amazing world and atmosphere which really keep invested in it.
How is the UK version? Worth watching if you have already seen this?
I thought the UK version was absolute shit. Very different from the quality you get in the US version. Also the UK characters are less likeable. Better to watch 'This is england' then.
Edit: Also, what a disappointment when I saw the bump I thought it might have started earlier or episodes got leaked

Thanks Morphina! That's ok, got Ray Donovan instead.
I've noticed that mostly good things are said about this show ever since it started, yet I'm not getting anywhere close to it until it ends and I have the certainty that it ended properly #fuckshowtime.

A smart thing to do, I feel it is better in a binge watch and yup... its showtime so who knows what kind of underwhelming resolve we'll get.
Speaking of the devil, I noticed that apparently Showtime switched both this and Homeland year slots (this from January to October, Homeland from October to January). I wonder what the reason is?
No idea why they switched it. Haven't read a thing on it but if I have to guess: rating shenanigans. Past months I was even thinking: wasn't Shameless supposed to run in winter time
‘Shameless’ Emmy Rossum Closes Deal To Return, Confirms Season 8 Renewal
Quote:
After a tense standoff over salary, Shameless star Emmy Rossum has closed a new deal with Warner Bros. TV. With her on board, the dramedy, which already had secured co-lead William H. Macy with a new contract, is fully expected to snag a Season 8 renewal by Showtime
Yeah that Trevor thing was really atrocious, especially that episode with the pronouns. You can see they are trying really hard to appease to a wider audience. Which is a mistake tbh, all this is or should be is moments where you laugh and feel shit. Not pushing agendas, just life.
I've really liked most of the storylines this season, especially Lip's and Fiona's. The only things that have been dragging it down for me are Frank's homeless shelter stuff in the first half, which was just meh, and Ian's romantic life. It really feels like they have no idea how to deal with Mickey's departure (which has been made final this week I guess). Caleb was basically a non-character and Trevor is so poorly written that he seems like a parody of the stereotypical Tumblrina, except none of it is intentional. If you wanna have a trans character on the show, hire a writer who won't turn the whole thing into a clumsy cringefest.
I can see why, this season has been really strong so far. The only thing that's bothering me is the fact that Trevor is still there. I haven't seen a single positive comment about that fucking bore the whole time he's been on the show, you'd think they'd get the hint by now.
its really sad of what this show has become, so different than early seasons. first seasons were a good balance of drama and comedy, with really sad moments but also very lol moments, character development was strong, every character was great, had amazing story lines.
now, since a few seasons its all about lgbtq and political shit, drama and character development thrown out the window, some characters become unlikable, they just couldnt figured what to do with the characters, they turned the show into some dumb comedy.
its still an ok watch, but i just miss the early seasons, i have watched this show since episode 1 first aired and was one of my favorite shows.
and its over. the episodes did improved towards the end, it was hopeful and sad ending. it still left me wanting more despite everything. i will miss this show and its characters
Spoiler:
still no fiona that fucking blows, he didnt even mentioned her at the end
