Legion is gud. Accidently attacked some world boss not knowing any better, he ripped me apart in 3 hits. Figured he was a standard mob just blocking the way lol.

I've come back for Legion and I was trying to find this UI pack since that's what I used before...I believe it was called RothUI but that is no longer updated? Which version is this?

This one isn't rothUI, it's called DiabolicUI. You can find it on curse ( https://mods.curse.com/addons/wow/diabolicui )

Keep in mind it currently doesn't allow customization at all.

Despite the loss of players during Draenor, the expansion sold quite well. Their sales haven't gone done compared to previous expansions (it's equal to WoD and Cataclysm so far, best sales on day 1):

The Burning Crusade - 2.4M First Day, 3.5M First Month
Wrath of the Lich King - 2.8M First Day, 4M First Month
Cataclysm - 3.3M First Day, 4.7M First Month
Mists of Pandaria - 2.7M First Week
Warlords of Draenor - 3.3M First Day
Legion - 3.3M First Day

With the subscriber count going down significantly over the past year, there was a very real possibility players wouldn't come back for Legion. Especially considering the price of the expansion. It's a bit surprising to see it sell as well (for day 1 sales, at least) as the best selling expansions of the past.

After months of missteps, Legion shows World of Warcraft finding its footing again and asserting its relevance after more than a decade. Many elements make this an expansion worth enjoying, including class halls, gigantic zones filled with memorable stories, better socialization, the actiony new Demon Hunter class, and world quests. The one big question mark is whether Blizzard can maintain that energy after launch, but so far the outlook seems promising.

Seems Blizzard did something correctly. As i still keep reading positive about this addon on many websites.
Was not the case with the previous expansion(s).

Didn't they say almost the same with the last expansion (in the beginning).
I somehow recall reading a lot of praises and 'back to roots' etc.

Because launch reviews for MMOs are trustworthy or IGN reviews for that matter. I'm sure a game with 12 years old graphics and outdated gameplay is worth 9.1.

To be fair, latest expansions are definitely not "12 years old graphics", they pimped up the engine, character models were redesigned, and the general area design follows different guidelines than the original 2004. zone design (where e.g. hills and mountains were just boobs out of the ground). The new continents are graphics-wise comparable to the rest of current cartoon style games out there.

I know they improved character models, some texutres, shadows and reflections, but the game doesn't come even close to most of the quality MMOs out there, cartoonish or not.

I think they do not want to go too far with graphics.

Large player base means a lot of potatoes as machines Razz

Well, they probably want a lot of players Smile

But sure, they could add options to make it pretty Razz (they do have the render scale etc. and you can make WoW crawl on powerful computers, but maybe some optional pretty features from DX12 etc.)

From what I understand, the main reason people enjoy this expansion more than the previous ones is because of the amount of content available at max level.
In previous expansions, people greatly enjoyed the quests while leveling up, but found themselves having nothing to do at max level. A common issue in MMOs, and the main reason why players loved those expansions for a few weeks before abandoning.

With Legion, it seems that players still love the quests while leveling up, but the game now throws even more content at players once they reach max level. Players have incentives to keep doing quests (finishing what they have left from leveling up, which is a ton of quest) once they reach max level, a new huge zone opens up with new quests, the game now has World Quests that are similar in style to Diablo 3, they can finish their class storyline, and then they have dungeons as usual.

With that said, most of this content is finite, meaning players will run out of things to do once again at some point. It's just hard to say when, since there's way more stuff to do than usual. If Blizzard does what they said they would do (not start working on an expansion right away, and focus on constant content patches) then maybe they'll actually succeed in retaining players. If they start lagging behind, players will just leave once more.

Sure, iLvl scaling world quests are very nice. You can get some drops every day if you're a bit lucky.

Btw, I got my first legendary already Smile In the first instance I did at level 110.

My friends who play twice as much as I do (unemployed / still in school vs. full time employed) still don't have theirs

They're jelly.

edit:
fixed the level Very Happy (had I really written level 70? :I )

err... I must have made a marginal typo Razz (fixed)

However, as far as I know, you 'can' get legendaries before 110 (starting from when you can do Legion dungeons).
I have not seen this myself so it's just a rumor but a guildie of a friend claimed he got a legendary from a random chest in a dungeon before level 110.

Legion dungeons have random loot chests which can contain awesome items (I got mythic ilvl 840 relic from such)

Yes! But they're only usable at 110, since they are ilvl895.

I have to say just leveled my shaman to 110 and the Quests are generic compared to WOD. Very grindy and boring. Hope the endgame content is better.
