Hi guys,
I have seen propably about 20 videos and 50 websites on "how to create own ringtones for iPhone".
None of what they describe work anymore (missing option, grayed out option) or for whatever reasons... it just doesn't work.
I'm using Windows 10, iPhone 6s, iTunes 12.4.3.1, ffmpeg (Zeranoe: dc7e5ad 2016-08-27).
I have a Mega Man 2 OST sound bit which I converted to AAC format with 128 kbit/s, 2 ch, 41kHz, M4A container, renamed to M4R, cut to only the first 30 secs, copied it to "ringtones" in iTunes, it's grayed out, can't actually use it.
Renamed it back to M4A and copied to normal "music" section, that works, even is playable normally, but you can't select it as ringtone, because it doesn't show in the list of ringtones.
Some how-to's suggest to "convert to AAC" or "create AAC version", the option is hidden under "File -> Converting -> ..." in Windows for recent versions of iTunes, but the option is disabled / grayed out, can't actually click it.
Nothing really works, don't know why.
Any help is DEEPLY appreciated. (no homo, but deep feels will come up if helped)

I use GoldWave. Open the audio I want to make a ringtone, cut it, and save it as m4a audio with a m4r extension. May need to convert it to mono. Then double click the m4r and it is ready to sync in iTunes.

i never use iTunes..i hate it so much. Jailbroken on 8.4, iphoneCake works great for all my needs..including custom ring tones. just convert to mp3 to m4r and drag drop..i cring when forced to use iTunes for anything.

Tones sync by default, so you just have to click the "Sync" button on the bottom.

You can select what to sync. So on the PC you only want to sync tones, just deselect music, video, apps, etc. It will then never display the warning and will not erase anything.
