But the original DX without HR I spent 57hrs on... again, according to Steam
Missing link was garbage though. One new gun (which was literally a reskin), no new items (that I remember) and boring level design. | YOU'RE GARBAGE!
Thought it was one of the better DLC's I've ever played, along with the FO:NV ones.
But then I'm a sucker for any type of quest/DLC that takes away your toys and makes you have to stay on your toes until you get all of them back and this one was just that.
Along with some nice vibes from MGS2's tanker part

Do you know what "cherry picking" means? Go to metacritic, pick a random selection of reviews, you get a completion time of 30-40 hours. All reviews also say how detailed Prague is and how much it is filled with content.
HR was obviously the beginning of a long going story and series. They've been talking about a "universe" from the get go. You end the game with total chaos ffs, nothing much is resolved. Sadly, it seems to be the same in MD. What I can fault them with, again based on reviews only, is the lack of any character progression for Jensen.
Your last sentence is completely idiotic since you base your "criticism" on again, cherry picked (search for the definition on google), reviews. |
How unsurprising. Didn't need to wait long for you to get into the typical "Mister_s" behaviour.
The Deus Ex Universe was called so because it would include a host of other related things like books, comics, mobile games, merchandise etc. Each and every Deus Ex game has ended with the world falling into complete chaos if you've forgotten about it.
And again harping on about the hub. A game can have quantity and quality if the developers make enough of an effort. Witcher 3 is an excellent recent example. |
I don't know what you mean by "mister_s behavior".
What else should I "harp on about"? Prague is the city where the game is based. Should we be talking about Dubai instead? What would be enough quantity? Please elaborate. How big do you think Prague is? You obviously think the hub is small. How big should it have been? In what way did you confirm they didn't make enough effort? What is enough effort?
I made a simple point, your bullshit is based on a couple of selected comments from a couple of selected reviews. Is that mister_s behavior?

Game being shorter is a good in my book.
That does not mean that playing it will over faster. It gives room for multiple playthroughs without getting bored.

But who am I trying to fool, if I like the game I'll get the season pass ASAP

There is no real reason in getting the season pass right now either. They don't offer any kind of a bundle discount, as far as I am aware, so you might as well wait until you the said DLCs get released. The season pass might even go down in price at that point.

The price drop was just an after-thought and I was actually talking about sales. Considering how quickly DXHR went on sale it is a real possibility that you can get a discount before you will actually need the season pass.
Looking at GMG, stuff that you could pre-order on a discount would get the same or better deal many times after launch.
Either way, the main point was that you gain nothing from buying it now, and you won't lose anything from buying it later. There is no special bonus for buying it now together with the game.

Good god.
Why don't I tackle this one by one since you clearly don't know when to stop.
Mister_s wrote: | I made a simple point, your bullshit is based on a couple of selected comments from a couple of selected reviews. Is that mister_s behavior? |
We'll get back to this at the end since I hate repetition unlike you.
Mister_s wrote: | What else should I "harp on about"? |
Nothing, since you clearly are adding absolutely zero to the conversation and just making the thread even more toxic.
Mister_s wrote: | Should we be talking about Dubai instead? |
Why? Dubai is a tutorial level meant to explain the game mechanics to newcomers and returning veterans. Also serves as a way to give a nice look at new gameplay features. Oh, I'll even add in Golem City for you where one main mission takes place.
Mister_s wrote: | What would be enough quantity? |
A hub divided in 4, a tutorial level and another where one narrative mission is set is enough quantity? No. 3-4 main hubs with different environments would certainly have been welcome. More variety so to speak.
Mister_s wrote: | You obviously think the hub is small. |
You obviously like making assumptions because I never said the hub is small. I said there aren't enough hubs and that the game has been stated to be smaller than HR by multiple sources.
Mister_s wrote: | How big should it have been? |
Obviously bigger than one hub which has been divided to mask loading times. Some reviews say that you get to see different sides of Prague via daytime changes and certain events changing the landscape which is appreciated but certainly not enough. Deus Ex has a global conspiracy permeating the events throughout the series so it would have been better to have had more hubs set in various parts of the world.
Mister_s wrote: | In what way did you confirm they didn't make enough effort? |
And again going off into tangential directions talking about things that only people privy to the development of the game would know. But from all that I've read, adding in lots of details to the existing Prague hub is great but again, the interiors aren't said to be as well done as the exteriors. NPC models aren't at par with the with main characters. There are many other little things that are not justified considering they took half a decade to develop the game.
Mister_s wrote: | What is enough effort? |
Take a look at The Witcher 3 to see what they created. That's enough effort. They built a game world with things to do, people to meet, meaningful sidequests etc. A complete opposite would be Dragon Age: Inquisition which felt like a thinly disguised MMO filled to the brim with filler and fetch quests.
What isn't enough effort? Certainly not a Season Pass with two missions and artificially inflated with booster packs, in-game credits. Certainly not a game shorter than Human Revolution which has taken 5 years of development time to create. Was it interference, internal development problems or something else?
Although we do know of this from 3 years ago. The Eidos Montreal founder already left after creative differences with SE:

Quote: | D’Astous goes on to say “The lack of leadership, lack of courage and the lack of communication were so evident, that I wasn’t able to conduct my job properly. I realised that our differences were irreconcilable, and that the best decision was unfortunately to part ways.” |
Another interview with the leads on the game state the creation of the new Dawn engine ended up eating time and the other states to add more details to the environment:

Why has it taken five years to get around to doing a sequel and dividing mankind?
Fortier: A lot of it was that the team started working on some new technology, and sometimes things are a little harder than you wish they were. You have good intentions and you think you're going to be ready and we realized that maybe the tools weren't quite there. Just doing little things in that situation becomes hard.
DeMarle: It's a complicated game to make. What we really wanted to do is push the narrative beyond just the branching storylines, and that's hard in and of itself. You could be writing a scene which is a two minute conversation when you play it, but the script is 20 pages long because we have to take into account all of the branches and all of the dialogue that might have been heard, or not heard. That takes a lot of time and a lot of fine-tuning. Also at the same time we're spending a lot of time with the environments. There's a lot of detail and a lot of clutter. |
Who knows what other problems were present but everyone will see the end result which seems to be a flawed quality product lacking in areas which it shouldn't have.
Mister_s wrote: | I made a simple point, your bullshit is based on a couple of selected comments from a couple of selected reviews. |
No, you made no point whatsoever and I just wasted some of my free Sunday time replying to your nonsensical posts.
From the beginning:

Garbage low effort posts coupled with the abuse of inverted commas and repetition of the same thing = mister_s behaviour.

GreenManGaming had a decent enough discount off both the main game and the "special" version or whatever it was called this time with it's 40% off but it was "fixed" pretty quickly to I think the current is a 25% discount, not bad either though at least compared to Steam directly.
