It is quite funny.

The performance issues in the current alpha are server related, if you play offline performance is fine.

So I can only assume its either the same situation in the demo or planet tech is just that intensive at the moment.

It's the netcode issue, as you can see relatively low fps from the beginning at Olisar, where you get very smooth performance on a decent rig if there aren't too many players on the server. The demo didn't include StarNetwork 1.0 as 3.0 will, so we should see some improvement when that lands. Keep in mind, though, that it's not going to magically perform like Minecraft. It was designed from the ground up to push PC hardware to its limits and that's exactly what people need to realise.

It is going to take a while and lots of sunlight to clean of the bile from Duruk Smurf's hate campaign that has covered so many.
Pretty sweet to see the guy go into a twitter meltdown trying to keep relevant and failing though. Very Happy

The visuals when entering the atmosphere... Frap Frap Guy

Also the size of Levski is quite impressive. You could spend hours just wandering around.

And what would a presentation be without a ship sale. This time there were actually two, the concept and explorers sale... Laughing

The reason they're excited about the ladder is that the Freelancer had issues with that entrance in the past. But it's true the audience is almost as unbearable as the whiners around here, except they have an excuse in being drunk and part of a crowd in public Wink

But then again one could say this thread has some very big similarities with the no man's sky postings of late and the bitching about fanboi's, alcohol or not, no excuses....

I see the deluded have come to sing the demo's praises. The whole thing was an utter sham. Nothing new was shown, and everything they mentioned was unproven and unfinished. And the performance is due to needing better hardware? DO fuck off, seriously. It's a tired excuse, one that has been overused for the last 4 years and needs to die quietly. We've seen 2 iterations of GPU since SC was announced, and neither have been able to run the PTU at any usable level at any point.

If you want to defend this scam, at least bring credible proof other than 'I told you so' rubbish.

Try harder and you just might burst in a rain of tears Wink

Nothing new except in-game landing complete with atmospheric flight, story based missions with NPC interaction, Dragonfly, Rover, in-game demo of wreck, video journals, new models and new animations, extremely detailed new location, and on and on.

Once again, no, you won't need new hardware if you have a decent rig. The FPS issues are, still, related to the netcode server bottleneck that will be much improved come 3.0.

But, please, cry harder and remain in denial about this level of obvious progress. Maybe you and DSmart can convince each other the game will never work while real fans of space games are having a great time in a couple of years.

Oh, so when you see two people on the street and say "what a nice couple" - you're really seeing double because you're drunk?

My own personal estimate for Star Citizen initial release is late 2018.

So, if you want specifics - let's say 2-3 years tops. So, I'll be back to "discuss things" by mid-2019 at the very latest.

Happy? Wink

My own personal initial release date was 2016. Like Roberts promised. Oh, that didn't happen did it?

Ok, I'll allow a year. Oh, it's no further forward than it was 12 months ago. Not looking good is it.

And you'really think a FULL GAME as promised by RSI is going to suddenly and miraculously appear with another 12 months?

Yup, deluded.

And I'll see your 2018 and raise you Never.

At the end of the Gamescom presentation, Chris Roberts said that they wouldn't be showing anything from SQ42, but it would be appearing Citizen Con in October.

The Youtube version ends before he says this.
