IMO yes, playing for 12+ hours now. There's some kind of sense of wonder (take this with a grain of salt) which pushes you to try to get a lil' bit deeper, thanks to the thin-written-but-scifi-enough story. However, I can see where it gets stale and repetitive; the inventory and replenish/refuel system is unnerving, variety is almost nonexistant (you can almost upgrade/accomplish everything in a single planetary system) and combat, be it space or planet-side, is simplistic at best.
TL;DR,
game runs better now after the patch, and if you like survival, grinding, exploration chillin' games and dig pulp sci-fi stories, try it.

I've downloaded the whole updated thing (it's 2.6GB in total) and uninstalled the game, it asks to preserve saves. Install new release, done!

Yep, that works pretty well. Some people on csrinru say you can also install on top but I rather do it cleaner.
