This Friday, August 19, Amazon Video is set to debut a trio of new pilots, including the Jean-Claude Van Damme series, Jean-Claude Van Johnson.

Jean-Claude Van Johnson stars Jean-Claude Van Damme in the title role, playing a global martial arts and film sensation…and, operating under the simple alias of “Johnson,” the most dangerous undercover private contractor in the world. Lucky for the world’s bad guys, he’s been retired for years… unlucky for them, a chance encounter with a lost love is about to bring him back to the game… and this time, he’ll be deadlier than ever. Probably.
Jean-Claude Van Johnson also stars Kat Foster (Your Family or Mine), Moises Arias (The Middle), and Phylicia Rashad (Creed). The show is executive produced by Peter Atencio (Key and Peele), Ridley Scott (The Good Wife), David W. Zucker (The Man in the High Castle) and Van Damme. From Scott Free Productions, the Jean-Claude Van Johnson pilot is directed by Atencio and written by Dave Callaham (Mortal Kombat).
Until you see the making of and notice what a fucking diva and moron Van Damme is. He didn't even realise he was playing in a parady of himself. And the director had to keep kissing his ass constantly to make him feel at ease.
But JCVD is the best thing he did in years, yeah.

Indeed, the pilot was better than I expected. Good acting, self-referential humor, and some cheesiness too but of the good kind, Amazon do the right thing!
I'm worried though that the same joke concept the pilot was based won't last long. They can't use the splits thing forever for example. They could rip through his films 1 episode at a time but they're all identical just like Seagal's.
