Composer revealed. http://theplaylist.net/johann-johannsson-reteams-denis-villeneuve-will-score-blade-runner-2-20160824/

Quote:
Jóhann Jóhannsson revealed on Icelandic radio station RUV that he’ll be scoring “Blade Runner 2.” The composer previously provided great, chilling scores for Villeneuve’s “Prisoners” and “Sicario,” and is tuning up the director’s intriguing sci-fi “Arrival” which is coming this fall. Jóhannsson is a two-time Oscar nominee (getting nods for “The Theory Of Everything” and “Sicario”), and is one of the best in the game right now, so we’re glad to see his fruitful relationship with Villeneuve continue.

I am not familiar with most of his work.

"Blade Runner 2049".

http://collider.com/blade-runner-2-title-2049/

The original took place in 2019.

edit

Quote:
The question is will this movie thematically cohere. The first Blade Runner is a very pretty movie, but it’s not really about anything (which is why it’s completely irrelevant if Deckard is a replicant or not; it doesn’t inform the theme because there’s no theme to inform).

Even if true - the author is clearly trolling there, carefully selecting the words to use in order to provoke a response.

TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."

This trailer told me nothing except the great sets.

It's 50/50..

The cast is great. The director is one of the best in the industry although his best films were made in the good old days when he wasn't working for Hollywood ( Incendies etc)

The only person who might ruin the new Blade Runner is Ridley Scott seeing as he wrote the story...

Honestly? I expected much worse from first promo materials. I was half ready for explosions and holywood glamour, yet this actually looks... kinda like a Blade Runner movie. And the sets are frickin' fantastic Very Happy

We'll see. My hopes went slightly up and that's something I didn't expect.

He didn't write it neither the script, nor the story, he had others write it for him. (I know, same difference, just saying.)

As long as it's not Lindelol there is hope.
But the guy who wrote BR 2049, wrote Green Lantern...

Scott hasn't written a single script in his life as far as I know. For one he was "probably" (his words) a dyslexic as a kid and got bad grades.

WGA rules say that in order to get "story by" credit you have to deliver a script (or other written document), not just give directions, and since all he does is give directions he is never getting "story by" credit.

I doubt Scott can even read half the time. I certainly don't see how he could have read the Prometheus script before accepting it Smile

Trailer was nice, but too much desert-y stuff and classic 13-years-old Gosling's haircut. None of these belong to Blade Runner Evil or Very Mad
Also, the Ford's exposition seems exactly as in The Force Awakens trailer, meaning gimmicky and hookish for nostalgia. Not a good sign.

The good part was the beginning and ending atmosphere (as well as that lonely piano note). THIS I can take as Blade Runner, tyvm.

Two guys wrote it - original screenwriter - Hampton Fancher (who is also credited for orignal characters) and the guy that wrote Green Lantern and now half of the 2017 blockbuster like:
Alien
Logan

Scott like Fancher is only credited for original story and characters. Also probably Fancher had minimal involvment in it as he is 78 years old.

That was unexpectedly beautiful, with a pleasant tone. On paper, Villeneuve + Jóhannsson + Deakins + Scott is a combo capable of generating a feast for the senses. Me Gusta

The writing and effectiveness of the cast however are still huge incognitas indeed, we can only hope that common sense can prevail, not letting pear replicants take over as per tradition with clichès and tripey stuff. Dat good ol' Harrison and his grit though, so much charisma in one single man Very Happy no homo

That's because this is a cash grab, simply using the bladerunner name to sell a product. The bladerunner story was finished and never needed nor asked for a sequel.

Yeah, the younger guy cosplaying as Harrison Ford in Blade Runner didn't capture the scenes at all, they should dump him asap and hire someone else. Too late? Damn.

The book it was based on got sequels, but it can be argued the book didn't need them either.

And one can argue we didn't need the original film either, because we already had the book.
