WORLD.CHAMPIONSHIP.POKER.2-ADDICTION
Quote: |
The sequel to the hit poker videogame, World Championship Poker 2 features a much more detailed one player game, where you now have to work your way up the ranks, starting in your mom's basement. Once you start winning and accumulating money, you can spend your winnings on increasingly better pads, and furnishings. Hit a losing streak, and you may have to hock your stuff to stay in the game.
Featured are 14 types of poker, with different levels of simulation for players of various skill levels. The create-a-player feature lets you create your own player, while an RPG-like skill system will allow your character to grow. On Xbox, full support for Xbox Live puts the cards on the world's table with scoreboards and voice chat.

This game has no protection, so I wouldn't say the release is anything notably.
Mini-review (by fisk)
First of all, this is the first good poker-game for PC imho, it's got it's (albeit primitive) 3D-engine, with tells and such, and it works online (you heard me, hold'em online, no cd-keys, protection, no nothing) and it's kewl as hell [if you like the game that is]. There's also Texas Stud, and a bunch of other sorts of card games in it, but that's beside the point.
You can customize your own character, and play in career mode (where you basically start in a basement, and play your way to the big tournaments) or in online mode... what you earn in single player mode transfers to multi player, so if you lose big time in MP, you can go back to SP and earn cash there.
Multi player has built in support for USB-cameras, and Microphones... it's not the best of support, but it works.
The rest is card gaming as I like it. And this will be what I play until "Stacked" comes.
I highly recommend it.

Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

This game seems good for a poker game. One problem though how do you speed up the Bluff/Tell Mini game. For me it says countdown and counts down REALLY slow takes like 3 mins before ach game starts. Thanks for any help

if you think this is a good poker game you don't know much about good poker games for the PC. I can think of a few, none of them have ever been pirated, and they mostly focus on improving your hold'em play. This game may be enjoyable, but I wouldnt consider it good.

The only one I can think of that has anything interesting to give here is Poker Academy, and that's not even a game - it's a learning utility with the POKI AI-engine (that will be used in STACKED).
This -is- (right now, 'til stacked comes) the best poker game for PC, period. The others are just dull 2D-engine applications without any interesting content (such as career mode).

It probably is the best poker game. But when every other product is crap, and yours is just slightly less crappy, doesnt make it a good game nessecarily

Yeah I played a few hands. The card generator did not seem very random. Playing 5 card draw I saw nearly every hand being won by 3 of a kind. Had 3 hands in a row won by 3 of a kind, and saw one hand where 3 players had 3 of a kind. No obviously I didnt play 5000 hands or so validate if the generator seemed off. The computer AI is pretty easy to beat, they play way to passive.

Looks really neat. Personally I think playing card games on the computer are soul sapping boring experiences but this looks like a proper game. About time.

Have to say I love the game. It's fun, and you can waste several hours on-line with friends and others (and don't forget the four-letter word, F.R.E.E.)
So come on, get it, it's less than 300MBs, and join me on-line!

Yeah! That happens to me... I like the game but I´m getting disappointed because of that!
Anyone knows how to fix it?

You don't need a CD-key to play online.

Just as fisk said, the "free" went to the fact that you don't need any serial or valid cd-key to play the game on-line. Maybe it wasn't the right word.
