Makes sense. Now even the WW1 enthusiasts can buy the BF1 toys even if they aren't interested in the game itself. Laughing

Battlefield Squads At Gamescom To Bring Horses, A New Map, And More

Quote:
At EA Play, Battlefield Squads pit 64-players in the first-ever livestream of Battlefield 1 gameplay. Next week at Gamescom, we're deploying it again. On August 16 at 12PM PT/9PM CEST, a new Battlefield Squads livestream will show off a new map filled with Only in Battlefield gameplay. There's a new trailer coming soon, too, with a trainload of new information about Battlefield 1.

In case you're wondering, yes, “trainload” is a tease.

This time around, team captains Stoddeh and Drift0r will be leading a crew of your favorite YouTube personalities, Twitch Streamers, and internet stars. They’ll be joined by the likes of StoneMountain64, XfactorGaming, ImAnderZel, TheRelaxingEnd, and many more, going on a destructive adventure into the desert to showcase a new map filled with points to capture, horses to ride, and things to demolish.

What's going to happen? Who is going to win? Will anyone blow up a tank from horseback? You'll have to tune in on August 16 at 12PM PT/9PM CEST to find out.

BF1 sadly still looks more like a WW2 game. Everything is so advanced. Probably because several prototype weapons from back then appear as standard weapons in the game.

For example that missile barrage from the plane @1:24, wtf.

haha.. Missiles in WW1.. Yeaahh noooo. they never had "militarized" rocket launchers then.. that all came into production in WW2 (decade+) unless BF1 is trying to sci-fi history a little just to fill gaps that many games in this genre already occupy? Also, Military Planes of that war were real basic as it was a time that planes actually were used en-masse for combat purposes. Things really did not heat up "technologically" until the next war.

The change of setting is a marketing scheme, if you give trench wars with bolt action rifles to today's generations of gamers they will play for a few hours and go to the next FPS which unlocks and automatic weapons. EA couldn't take such risk, they just changed the overused modern warfare settings, kept everything else and now let the cash flow.

It was possible to select the platform for some time now. Perhaps people who didn't already got that email.

Still no word on when the Beta is launching, but the assumption is that it's going to be timed with Gamescom.

They were electrically fired. In WW1 they were designed as anti airship (balloons)

They don't look authentic for sure, but they were real (Le Prieur) and used quite effectively against air balloons.

How convenient for DICE that 90% of those SMG/LMG clockwork contraptions were never issued. Rolling Eyes

No need to worry about any semblance of reality there, which is for the best, as you were probably just as likely to kill yourself trying to fire one of those fucking things as you were the enemy. Very Happy

Didn't know about the air mounted rockets, but I'd imagine you'd be incredibly fortunate to be able to hit a barn at 100 ft. out with those things as well heh.
