No. It was a Lada tuned up by Lotus engeneers. They changed the interior to high quality (leather and stuff), changed the suspension, modified the engine, painted the car, fixed light alloy wheels and so on. It looked cool and rode cool. The problem is the modification costed 130.000 pounds (parts 30K and labour 100K).
you can see it here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/topgear/prog8/lotuslada.shtml
So... Lada can be cool, it's just the matter of cash.

As a matter of fact it is the cheapest 4x4 option. And the car is virtually indestructible.

If you see that here:

But i think in the game you can choose between auto and manual gearbox!

i watched the videos and im quite imprsed with the game... the fact they implant hdri into the game is already nice but why the pick lada?... guess they dont have the money for some super cars licence or whatever... if in the game you can tune the cars it should give alot more to the game... and im prety sure they will.... lets just hope they have some kind of damage system for the cars like doors falling off and stuff like that..
o btw this is no valusoft no matter what you say
you can get the realtime demos from this site http://www.artyshock.ru/eng_demo.htm its from the makers of the engine that is used in lada racing
I teleported home one night
With Ron and Sid and Meg.
Ron stole Meggie's heart away
And i got Sidneys leg.

man, or man... That's one thing I never thought I would ever see... a Riced out Vaz-2105 in a game with Russian RAP group music. Well, at least those cop chicks look nice, they can arrest me anytime! Game also doesn't look half bad, I will gladly give it a shot just to put extra wide body kits on 2105 along with extra large aluminum spoiler. Maybe I can add some neon lights and tons of "Type R" stickers for EXTRA HP's!
All right, wonder if they will have VAZ 2101. It was a great machine! 79 HP and had front crank ignition for times when your batteries died, not like that happen often since front stock battery was the size of battle ship and often allowed car to be actually driven short distances on battery alone. Smart hard core Russian drivers also had 2nd battery equivalent size in their trunk. There was no hydraulics, so just driving it across rough Russian roads would knock out any need to ever go into a gym. It went very fast as well, 0-60km in 20+ seconds. Ok, maybe it wasn't all that fast but suspension would put to shame even best of WRC Rally Cars. I actually happen to see VAZ 2101 two times in US, both times I nearly ran off the road as I was in complete shock starring at it. What a car!!!

LOL riced out 2101/11's... wow... Yea 011 had very little differences over 01, to the point that during 01 accidents, 011 body could have being easily used instead. Still, those pics crack me up, although at least that spoiler does something since car is RWD. Just not sure car ever went fast enough to worry about loosing traction on rear tires, especially with that heavy body.
On developer forum they had voting if devs should have large empty trunk for sacks of potatoes or sub woofers. I was thinking of suggesting a top rack, since when I race it's not just to burn gas while running away from cops, but rather "getting home faster with sacks of potatoes on the roof from my dacha". I hope they'll have appropriate missions such as "race to alcohol store to by last few bottles of vodka before store closes", "race to nearest gas station, because it has 76 octane gasoline for cheap!", "race home because your wife doesn't want to miss latest Mexican soap opera", etc.
P.S. For fans of Lada here is old news about Lotus tweaking 2105. There are plenty of links of that Top Gear episode floating on the net which are easy to find.
