The new races are pretty fun. Some sections of the tracks are pretty epic. The first time I ran the Plummet race and you see that huge straight away going down from way up in the sky is awesome.

Yeah the races are fun when you dont have ppl in there who are trying to ram your rear all the time so you make donuts and lose all your places. Or ramming you off the road -.-
Aside from that i had some really nice, fun and adrenaline pushed races
Also the Stunt Creator for us gets released on 2nd August and 6 cars are still locked and should maybe release 2 of them each week (speculation).
Cant await the Editor as i have some pretty sick shit in mind for new great races
The new props are great, finally we are be able to create proper races which adds so much potential, loving it and i was never a hardcore racer ^^

The cars are ridiculously overpriced though. Even for regular GTA:O players, for example, the latest update features the Ocelot Lynx (1.7 million, more than some Supercars!), which is in the Sports category, but in terms of performance, it's on the lower end there compared to other vehicles, same as the new Drift Tampa (which costs 900k, for a fucking muscle car! Stock variant costs 375k )
Not to mention several hundreds of clothing items for 10-90k, the best payout on VIP missions for 1-2 minutes of work is 20k, Heists don't pay much more than 200-300k. Those prices are hilarious, really.

For the casual player it may be a problem, but playing on a regular basses earns enough money. Im sitting on 45 mio and i have almost everything ingame, exceptions are only the gold plane and chopper afaik (too stoned right now).

megalodon shark card for gta V is the 12th top seller on steam atm. it costs more than the actual game.
If that's not a first world suicide reason, I don't know what is.
let's take a moment and weep for humanity

@Drowning_witch This thing has been in "Top Sellers" quite often, together with the game. They'll milk it as long as they can, it works obviously.

There's a difference, getting shitfaced and spending lots of money on booze is a personal thing.....it doesn't affect other people.......unless they get behind the wheel maybe
but buying 100$ worth of fake money will only encourage the big companies to increase the use of that practice....more aggressively too.
so yes i just compared buying shark cards from gta v to murder! |
Buying anything encourages the makers to continue doing it. I dont see why PC gaming should be held to any standard different than any other business.
Buying quarts of beer for $5 a pop encourages them to keep doing so, overcharging for 'premium' beer when the cheap beer does the same job your after just one you personally enjoy more and willing to pay more for it. Same thing. Your telling beer makers "I'll pay more for the good stuff, so keep it an option, Im speaking with my money".
Or:
Paying $50 for a ticket to watch people kick a ball from 200m away, only encourages them to keep paying them millions a season to do so knowing you will pay it, and paying $10 for a crap beer at the stadium only encourages them to keep charging that and pushing it.
For $50 to sit in a seat, should come with a few beers free if you wanted them. Why doesn't it? They know they can make money off people paying for it because its a option they can cash in on..same thing.
Or:
Buying photohshop for $1500 only feeds the market that they know businesses will spend $1500 on it.
Your comparison is correct, just your a bit biased on "Spending money on X hobby only encourages them to keep over charging for it, while Y hobby its ok..since its only a personal choice not affecting the prices others pay for it".
In the end its people willing to do it, that encourages them to keep doing it. Its not the "PC companies only". Everything is a business model. Be it games, stadium food/beer/ticket prices, beer manufactures, automobile makers etc. They know if they offer it people will buy it if its a premium option.. So I dont see how its different personally. Just one you are OK with, the other you are not.
I'm not saying I would pay for it. Just saying I see why. Its a business model literally every other company that makes things for consumers uses. Charge them if they want more than the base model, or want extras.
Only difference is PC gaming took years to mature to the point of a 'popular business model' to be in a position to feasibly start doing it.
Is it something people like? No. Is it something that's a popular consumer opinion to do? No. But it is what it is. Demand makes supply. And a company that doesn't take advantage of a demand in the market is a bad company model.
Do you feasibly expect them to listen to the minority users that never bought even a cheap shark cards on if they should sell shark cards?

The sports analogy is the best one I think:
Players get paid millions a year to do things on a grass field. Because consumers that COULD stay home and watch it on TV. Some personally decide to spend $30+ on a single seat, $10 on warm beer, and $5 for a single hot dog. Then pay $10 to park their car in a lot while they do it.
Staying home is free, and can see the score just as well.
But why do they get paid millions? Because people pay millions to have the option to get a better view of it.
Why do they charge that price for it? when it could be FAR cheaper? Because they know they have a big enough audience willing to fork over the money to do it.
Do you complain the sideline seats are $500 more than the basic ones? People pay more do the same exact thing in the end. Just they got money to burn to have a better experience of something they have as a hobby.
How is paying $50 for a card to enjoy GTA with all the bells and whistles of new cars, and gold guns, any different than paying $500 to enjoy a football game with all the bells and whistles of box seats, and AC, and a waiter and birds eye view with live feed TV's in the box with you?
Both make the company go "Well hell they are willing to pay that year after year, so keep doing it".
I myself wouldn't do either. But if someone wants to pay for stuff that gives them no advantage other than bliing and things to brag about (for both) more power to them.
So my analogy is: If I can see the whole football game either way, Let them pay for the window seats in the box, someone has to pay for the coach's new ferrari.
