Let's see a video with constant 60fps.

I don't remember seeing in a game to date such horrible pop-ups. The grass in the forest spawns at 1 meter in front of me.

Gotta love the people on the BI forums/facebook explaining how they all get 60FPS on Apex, with ultra settings using GPUs like GTX970s. I don't know where to start :/

Even official missions won't run that nicely

and you only know what happens when you turn away from foliage/jungles right, yer it goes higher... :/ :/ :/

much easier to just run "yet another arma benchmark" at ultra preset so we can all compare, like AmpegV4 and myself did.

random screenshots are not exactly great ways to show your game performance.

Well we all know about wasteland and its various releases right? Some are fantasticly smooth and others are a pile of crap right? Anyhow moving along, try exile mod on tanoa, 50-110 fps on that one. YMMV btw on the MGT server it is of course always full of shit head subbers that like to fuck around. Never had good time on their servers but others seem to flock to it with no performance issues.

Ive never understood why server performance affects your fps. I mean.... Its fucking ridiculous. Why.

Anyways, yea, exile mod, ironically, is heavier and yet its smoother. Wtf

its something to do with loading and data keeping of all the players positions running about and changing items/kit etc all the time. BI do a shit job at container items always have. For some freaky deaky reason it affects people differently. You would think as long as you have solid threads and cores the game would manage.

Roll on Arma 4 - 64 bit game engine so we can still come back to this thread and see people complain Very Happy

cpu limited game so the server performance affects everyone.

Breezer_ wrote:

it has some extra threads for parts of the engine, but you still can't achieve a constant 60 fps at ultra visibility ranges on any PC. not to mention that ultra visibility sliders are about 1/3 of the actual max values. I guess they added that so we can see if the PC's in 2050 can run arma 3 maxed at constant 60+ Very Happy

They've been using this engine since OFP. It's heavily modified. I really hope they have something new ready for ARMA4.

I wish I knew this before buying this crap. Being a huge OFP SP fan, I was already tired of previous ArmA games, this Arma 3 crappy futuristic setting, invented vehicles and weapons and their ever so blander campaigns, but this Apex excuse for a campaign is just too much.

Oh, wait. Wasn't there some Steam refund option? I see it's possible if you keep the gameplay time under 2 hours. Great. I'm not buying their crap anymore until they go back to realistic sides, weapons and vehicles (preferably Cold War, but at this point anything will do but this CSAT nonsense). Refund requested.

Apologies for the rant..

finished that one today. it played out at night for me. once I went for full stealth, it wasn't that hard. well, only 2 of us from the 7 man team survived. Razz But I loved it. nice and long mission with varied encounters and complete freedom of approach.

At first I kept trying to kill all armor by sneaking up to it and then doing a 2 man rpg for an instant kill. that didn't work very well as some APC's were strategically placed so that you can't use height or forest advantages. the stealth approach was just much better for my limited commander skills.

One of the subsequent missions where you need to reach a boat with an optional undetected objective, that took me a while. But it was epic. sneaking about a town infested with patrols. my adrenaline was pumping like mad. even saw the enemy execute some civilians behind a barn. Crying or Very sad

unless you have a really old gpu or are playing at 4k, no point in even saying what GPU you have when it comes to arma. tell us your cpu architecture, clock, and RAM speed/latency.

but yeah arma reddit is full of archived threads with the same wording "upgraded to gtx 970/980 arma fps still low"

now the wave of threads will be "upgraded to 1070/1080 arma FPS still low"

followed by moosenoodles' classic "it's your PC, I get over 100fps looking at the most demanding sky in the game"

Do an i7 or Xeon actually make a difference in this game with more cores and threads?

well according to the bench ampegv4 and myself did, not really, unless he has slower ram than me. we'd need more people to use the same bench to know better. i'd say maybe 1-2 fps maybe and a bit better frame times in most demanding scenes.

Interinactive wrote:

I'm going to run that benchmark tonight with similiar settings and see what happens

you can just select the ultra preset in the options, it will use the same exact settings i've used. just don't use 4k res unless the 1080 can fully feed it and never be at full usage.

hilarity of arma 3 performance. took these today.

Just updated, running it at 1440p on a stock i5 3750k and a 980 using auto detect which is mostly ultra/high gives me 40 - 60 in single player. If I drop the view distance a bit I can get constantly > 60. I've also got an i7 6700k and 1070 which I'll try tonight on same monitor.
