I've been looking for a new shooter to grind. CS:GO doesn't do it for me anymore, and I played The Division and liked everything but the gunplay.
If Destiny is similar in the sense that it's a PVP/PVE loot driven game, and the gunplay is better since it's a real shooter and not an RPG masquerading as a cover shooter like The Division, I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

Today, Bungie released another update for Destiny, a video game in which players travel through space imagining new content.

Said the company in a press release: “Activision Publishing, along with its partners at Bungie, expects to bring a large new expansion to Destiny in 2016 and to release a full game sequel in 2017.”
Since September, Destiny’s Prison Of Elders has laid dormant and useless, filled with encounters and gear that were rendered obsolete by The Taken King. Next month, that could change.
Destiny Update 2.2.0 will deploy on April 12th, 2016.
From here onward, we’ll refer to it as the “April Update.” As promised, it will have something for every type of Guardian. Here are some of the highlights to look forward to:

Hmmm that might be a good time to start playing Destiny in April then, no? I got the game since December I think, but I haven't really gotten into it as I'm level 5 or so atm. And I got The division laying here going to play that first to see if I'll like it or not + DS3 + UC4 coming soon... Crap crap crap :/.
This spring’s big Destiny update will offer new bounties, quests, and a new mission set after the fall of Oryx. It’ll also take us all back for a ride on the Light treadmill, bumping the level cap up to 335.
On a Twitch stream today, reps for Bungie talked about the new update, which goes live on April 12th. It seems like it’ll offer some badly needed refreshments to the game, adding a new section to the Prison of Elders as well as bounties and quests that will take us back to the horde mode that was introduced last year.
In addition to a new (matchmade) “level 41" version of POE, Bungie is adding a mode called Challenge of the Elders that sounds a lot like a PVE version of Trials of Osiris. This is where we’ll get past 320 light.
When you play through this challenge, you’ll get a score card called the Elders’ Sigil:
The scores are calculated by fireteams, so your team’s success is what matters here. When you hit those point totals, Bungie says, you’ll be able to collect rewards from Variks. You’ll have seven days to do it; the scorecard will reset every week.
There’ll be a new strike that pits players against a big boss named Malak, pictured on top of this post. He’s apparently a Taken creature that wants to pick up where Oryx left off.
The new update will also come with a bunch of new quality-of-life improvements and a Takenified version of the old Archon Priest strike. There’s also a new PlayStation-exclusive quest.
Destiny’s next big expansion, Rise of Iron, will launch on September 20th for Xbox One and PS4, according to the game’s official website. The expansion is set to be unveiled tomorrow, so stay tuned for more details!

What would it be like for someone to start playing again after stopping during the original release?
Is it completely different? Does it make sense to go through all the content released so far? Does it make sense to start over?
Am I going to be completely lost?
Hmm Destiny isnt everyone'e cup of tea. In the early days there was obvoiusly less content and things have progressed and expanded since. I really enjoyed the solo play stuff and I play multiplayer a lot with my Dad. If you didnt play the original release much I think it is worth playing through all the content. Its always been and probably always will be a grindfest but if you like FPS I dont think you can go wrong with Destiny. You can also start from level 25 using a Spark of Light if you didnt want to start from the beginning.
I like the GUI but they need to speed up the lag when accessing the menus. I guess I might have too many items but it would be nice if it got optimized more.
So there’s a brand new zone we’re adding to New Russia. You’ll be able to have a brand new patrol area that you’ll land in to explore the new content. Connected to that will be — you’ll be able to revisit old Cosmodrome.

Bungie put out a bunch of Rise of Iron details in this month’s copy of Game Informer, which you can get here. A few quick highlights:
* The new raid is called Wrath of the Machine. (I hear it’s cool.)
* The max light level will be 385, with the cap escalating to 400 once Hard Mode of the raid becomes available.
* There are eight new artefacts that will come with wild special abilities. One of them will remove sprint lag. Another will let you “melee enemy units and gain their allegiance for a short time.” (What?)
* Said crucible design lead Lars Bakken: “Rise of Iron includes the introduction of a long-awaited feature our community has been clamouring for.” Safe to say custom matches are en route?
* Festival of the Lost is coming back in October, and the Sparrow Racing League will fly once again in December. No word on what’s coming in 2017 before Destiny 2, though.
* There’s a new Crucible mode called Supremacy (which we’ll see at Gamescom) and what appears to be a new Horde mode called Archon’s Forge.
* Old strikes Devil’s Lair and The Summoning Pits are revamped and will reappear in Rise of Iron.
After installing a 12GB update, Destiny just got a lick of paint as it did with the The Taken King. Looks pretty sweet. Servers down for 8 hours though and weapons rebalanced in time for Rise of Iron.
