im too lazy and drunk sir. i just wanted to help you out with saying that this is atleast possible in fifa, so maybe it could work in other games too. it does in wow for example too. about cs im not sure but i think it could work.

it works in fifa cause its p2p. easy to provoke a massive lag just by triggering a huge dl on your side
but in csgo i dont think (unless its their own server) anybody could see the opponents ip adress to ddos/flood his ip

How?
If it's on the server then each client gets a connection to the server.
But any inputs are, AFAIK, not shared in between clients per direct connection, instead every client connects to the server, the server accumulated all inputs, and distributes it back to each client.
Clients, A, B, C, D all connect to server S.
The active connections then are:
A <--> S
B <--> S
C <--> S
D <--> S
Not...:
A <--> S
A <--> B
A <--> C
A <--> D
...and so forth.
That would be my naive assumption. How is any client X supposed to find not only any other clients IP address Y, but in fact that of all connected clients to server S and also distinguish wich team they are on and also figure out who is currently alive/dead or in a clutch situation or not?

As far i remember, only the admin from the server can see client IPs or if the ddos-guy got you on friends. Besides that those lags are from shitty valve servers, you can look it up on reddit somewhere.

maybe it has something to do with the voice/talking feature? maybe it can be sniffed if you start talking? just an idea i have no clue.

So, OK then. Wireshark is a tool which can read the entire I/O of a physical network device.
How are you going to retrieve my IP address?
I'm client A, you're client B, we're both connected to server S.
Your connection to the Server S can at most reveal the IP's realted to path B <--> S.
You cannot sniff my computer's (A) network devices, you know that, right?
Neither can't you sniff the network devices of the Server (S), but if you could, you would see ALL related IP addresses, so all clients A-D and everything else, like matchmaking servers and so forth...
"Wireshark" is not an answer, none of the packets should contain any IP address other than those between your's (B) and the server's (S), unless you have installed and have access to Wireshark on that Server (unlikely).
You just posted a word and you propably don't even know how that technology works.
And neither do I, but at least I know it cannot be a valid answer unless you care to explain. |
You're just getting doxed for the ip, and then ddos'ed. Any 14 year old can do that if they have access to paid ddos services or zombies.
If you want to avoid that don't use the same name with different services (skype, steam, etc)

I've never seen individual ddos attacks but I've seen it a few times on the server itself which ends up crashing the server, the players have actually told me before doing it so it's not just random lag.
