I think scaramonga just wants manual control over each update like it was in pevious versions. the gpedit tweak only disables automatic download+install of updates. it won't allow you to pick which updates to install, only when you want to do it.

it will occasionally nag you if you don't install the updates for several days, but it will never download+install until you press the button yourself.

I installed it, took 20 minutes. Everything is still in place, no fuck ups. I used the O&O tool, it seems to contain everything so I didn't use any of the manual tweaks. My only problem is, I can't uninstall the apps. Using the DISM command in powershell or command prompt gives me "error 3".

i think that was the command to delete ALL apps, which you can delete.
keep in mind the photo app will be gone and i think you have to renable the windows photviewer with a .reg file. if you need it let me know.

in powershell:
Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | Remove-AppxPackage

better google for it before you use it, i don't know if it possible and if it does it but maybe it also removes the store. so if you plan to use it better double check before use it.
i just had it in a text file saved from last year.

/edit
googled this for you:

yes, unless they changed something since the th2 upgrade, when redstone upgrade comes all the OS apps will be reinstalled. the big updates are really no different than doing a win7 to win10 upgrade install.

Even if they reinstall and re-apply everything, it took me 10 minutes to tweak everything. There are a lot of guides/blogs and the O&O tool is very handy.

So the anniverasry update will revert everything back and reinstall apps I don't want? no biggie, I can get rid of that shit in about 2 minutes anyway....

That being said, what is everyone using these days? I use shutup10 and DDU for drivers... that's really it....

Is there something better now, I heard something about an ultimate tool in another thread (can't find it now. Should I just continue to use shutup10....?

If your using an MS account with Win10, and hate the annoying login screen, with having to type password at each boot, then do these steps to auto login:

Code:
- Win+R, type "control userpasswords2" (without quotes)
- click on your username
- untick the checkbox above
- hit "OK" and supply your password one last time

No more login screen and your straight to desktop Smile

Does that still allow for a p/w if you lock the screen?

O&O ShutUp10 Version 1.3.1359

Changelog wrote:
Compatibility with Windows 10 Anniversary Update (Version 1607 Redstone 1)
– Wi-Fi-Sense is no longer offered, so deactivating this function is now obsolete
– Various group policies were changed according to their validity, which so far has had no impact on O&O ShutUp10
– Cortana can no longer be deactivated over Windows settings: O&O ShutUp10 can still do this Wink

Deactivation of OneDrive is no longer recommended with limitations, rather it is no longer recommended
– Some customers use OneDrive for data images so that a deactivation means they no longer have access to important functions
– To avoid deactivating in error, we have updated the recommendation level to “not recommended”

Tooltips explain the meaning of the icons for recommendation levels

The Info page now also displays the Windows 10 Version (Threshold 1, Threshold 2 and Redstone 1) to improve communication with our Support Team

Various bug fixes

Clear your Event Viewer (handy for pin-pointing down problems)

Copy this to Notepad:

Code:
@echo off
FOR /F "tokens=1,2*" %%V IN ('bcdedit') DO SET adminTest=%%V
IF (%adminTest%)==(Access) goto noAdmin
for /F "tokens=*" %%G in ('wevtutil.exe el') DO (call :do_clear "%%G")
echo.
echo goto theEnd
:do_clear
echo clearing %1
wevtutil.exe cl %1
goto :eof
:noAdmin
exit

Save as 'whatever.bat'. Pin to start or shortcut it somewhere.

(Right click and 'run as admin' to see clear up process)

Check Event Viewer......Empty Wink
