Finally installed Predator, since the screws arrived. Was running temporarily my CPU with spare H100i. Here is 30min comparison of Predator and H100i in Aida64 Extreme (CPU is at 4,7Ghz @ 1.3V). Talking about some insane difference (okay, H100i was running with SP120 Silent Editions at max speed, and Predator was with PWM from the own hub, did not sound that much noisier tho, stock H100i fans are like fucking 3000rpm, its really like jet engine and will not test with them).
This thing actually cools this 6 core Haswell-E better than H220X swiftech my previous 4790K rig which my GF now has (okay 4790K does not have soldered IHS).
Yeah it is very intense ... i delidded one 3770K by using hammer and vice .
And I delidded one 3570K with razor, broke it, resealed it with RTV and sent it for warranty "does not work". Got a new one.
Delidded with those old school razors this time, super thin, worked like a charm.
This does seem like a massive disappointment if you ask me, barely better than that Corsair crap. Or it could just be that toothpaste inside the CPU but still, for that money...
Very expensive aswell if that costs 250€, you can build a 360 rad custom loop for that money yourself.
That was pretty much the big fight when those guru benchmarks were posted. All they did was base it off of temps. Toe to Toe the corsair sounded like a 757 going through your home.
Yeah, not to mention why this can be major disappointment since it cools exactly the same as 240 custom loop, it uses EK high end parts. Someone at youtube tested it against 360 custom EK loop, and it was pretty much exactly the same performance. Im planning to buy 240 rad + fullcover block and add my GPU to the loop.
To get high performance at low noise with the H100i you have to replace the stock fans with some great static pressure fans. Noctua NF-F12's (120mm) or NF-P14's (140mm) should do the job. No comparison with SP120 Silent Edition (may be silent but nothing I'd use with any water cooler due to the lackluster performance).
Can't really go wrong with Gentle Typhoons, still pretty much the best 120mm fans out there? For radiator/heatsink use.
Though they are not manufactured anymore but I heard they are being re-introduced sometime in the upcoming months? Fingers crossed!

Gentle Typhoons had been dethroned a couple times now I believe, especially by the EK Vardars.

I have noticed the name before in the past, propably cause they look so much like GTs. Hadn't watched any reviews about them.
Watching vid nao. EDIT: If that guy is impressed by those, he must have never tried the GTs in the past.
EDIT: Any reviews comparing GTs to Vardars?
EDIT2: It seems I found one, GTs still beat Vardars in every area pretty much at same speeds :l
I'm buying used GT AP-15s myself just cause they are so frickin awesome. Got 7 total atm but need like 5 more to have my case full of GT AP-15.
Then add 240 Rad on the roof and +2 GT AP-15 for total of 14 fans and 360+240 of Rad space heh
Paint them?! Why? Just added weight and risk of vibrations. Sometimes I wonder if people have thrown away their monitors and just have the PC with the side off in front of them to look at all the leds, colors and other nonsensical stuff.
(yeah, I'm more of a practical/pragmatic dude when it comes to PC's, I don't spend time checking the innards of my PC to see glowing leds, color shifts etc.).

How will a thin layer of paint affect anything.. it won't.
Not that I'm gonna paint any either, I don't care for such thing but it sure as hell won't be causing vibrations or adding weight to the fans...

painting can add noise to the fans. Blade's surfaces are designed a certain way, adding extra crap on top of it can make them noisier. Not always the case but it has been proven that painting them can change the effects of the airflow/noise.

Well I guess it can happen if you are dumb enough to empty a whole spray can on one fun, but just a thin enough layer to cover the base color and nothing should happen to it, no need to go overkill with the paint layer, just enough, it doesn't need to take a beating lol
I readed from this like 1 day after i bought my X99 parts, but i still installed my 240 predator (my unit was manufactured before october), i dont care, if the shit leaks and destroys my components i will contact EK ... Too bad, shit happens, its still the best AIO out there. Gonna inspect my unit today or tomorrow since i will be moving my parts to new Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX case.
Only happened to a couple units. Even Corsair had leaks when they first started off. Corsair and EK both paid for any damages that occured. Shit sucks but at least it's by companies who give a shit.
That said, they're shipping me a new one. It never leaked so whatever.

Current statistics show that 1 out of 10 units leaks.

oh damn, didnt' see that part. Wonder if that's reported from userbase or from their own testing in house.
Installed my parts yesterday to my new Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX case, inspected my unit and there was no leaks, however i put it to its original package and sent it to my local shop, i get 360 rev 1.1 version in exhange for the trouble :> Ordered QDC MSI 980Ti waterblock aswell.
Since I got my Founder's Edition 1080 I've been thinking whether to try this Predator 360 AIO. I read through all the descriptions, manuals to how I'd install it and, more importantly, maintain it. I was hoping it would be maintenance-free except for usual dedusting... But in the manual they recommend that you should replace the coolant every 3 years. This along with leaking worries is what keeps me from ordering it. I watched official videos (I'll link them below) and if I understand it correctly, you need to completely remove the loop out of the system for draining and refilling. What about GPU block? You also need to remove it from graphics card before draining it? Has anyone refilled these (or similar) units? Is it really as much hassle as it looks? And do you REALLY need to do it every 3 years?
The leaking issue was a one time thing and they went balls to the wall to fix it. I haven't seen or heard any reports of leaking since. Every new all in one had the issue. Even the H-50 leaked when first released and even ruined a guys computer.
They probably tell you to do it for peace of mind. You can always add your own drain port.
