They make some pretty nice TVs in the lower price region. Still very happy with my 2-3 year old Smart TV from them.
Only the forced updates of Smart-Apps annoy the hell out of me. |
The failure rate for Samsung has been too high in here with most people TVs going kaput in 3 years

That's what i heard most companies have stopped 1080p models and seems like this is a decent and recent model

I did a research on several TV's and found below, can you guys suggest, looking for 1080p only
1. Sony
- Great Picture and Sound in 2015-16 models
- Low input Lag and Motion Blur
- Most Expensive
- Android is still WIP
2. LG
- Best OS (But does it actually matters ?)
- Quality Picture match-able to Sony
- Great Performance vs Cost
- High Input Lag
- Heard stories of TV failing after 2-3 years
3. Samsung
- Good Picture
- Input Lag average
- Input models available
4. Panasonic
- Great Picture
- Support is iffy
- Cheaper
I'm looking for only 1080p as 4k is expensive and not yet ready for market.I'm from India and not everything which is mentioned in rtings.com are available here we have very limited models and at times some companies dump there models here.Gaming on PS4 and with PC with GTX 970.I'm still 1.5 month away from my purchase as I'm waiting LG to launch there 2016 lineups unfortunately most companies have jumped on 4K so hardly 2-3 1080p models, sony even re-hashed there 2015 models for 2016

Well, I bought my 47" LED LG 5 years ago and it still works perfectly fine and the input lag was low enough for me to play counter strike competitively No blurriness and also great color reproduction.

Can't complain about my LG either, took my pc with me on the plane when I moved to Sweden. Screen and all my other stuff was arriving a week later so I played on our TV. Was playing BF3 and others without much problems. Had a low response time.
Still working great today after 3,5 years now I think.

I am still on a Panasonic Plasma 1080p screen which I bought 7 years ago, the reviews also said that it had average input lag, but I spent hundreds of hours playing Guitar Hero/Rockband on it and I never noticed. And timing is highly important there, you notice immediately if the sound and picture don't match up.

I've always had good experiences with Sony TVs.
I usually have very "normal" looking settings, I dont use frame interpolation or enhancement features.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

I'm sure that 1200Hz is a native refresh rate.

No TV panel has a higher native refresh rate than 120hz, even the most expensive ones >7000$
Very few take a 120hz input and refresh at 240hz internally.
Everything above is either a lie, or achieved via motion processing, bfi, interpolation and backlight strobing and compared against some arbitrary motion clarity indices.

That looks like your standard backlight bleeding. Can't calibrate it away, other than lowering backlight/brightness to make it less visible. In most cases you can't RMA it either unless it's really bad. I would check in with LG or your retailer to see what their policy is.
If the general 14 day return policy applies you can return and play the lottery again. For most LCDs BLB is a standard problem to varying degree.

That's what you get when using an IPS TV in the dark. There's a reason over 60% of TV's use VA panels instead.
Looks like more than average bleed though, there's a chance you get a better one when playing the panel lottery again. Or else exchange it for a Samsung 49KS8000.

Did some research and making local dimming to high makes the bleeding go away this happens only in dark room at night and it seems quite common with lg as it suffers from poor dimming

VAs can suffer from backlight bleed just as easily. What VA doesn' t have is the so called "glow" present on IPS panels, but that is a different issue.
