I'm not going to spoiler myself now, but hopefully soon means sometime before summer. I'll play all the games in summer.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
I made a quick run in the city in Part 1. I can't make a proper comparison since I upgraded both my CPU and my GPU since then, but it runs pretty good in general. Max settings, except AA was off (I was not sure what AA it's using and it looks blurry enough without it) at 1080p and the lowest I was getting was 65 at a couple of the worst places. Mostly it's 80-100 and could go over 130. It scales with settings better as well - on medium I was getting 150 easily enough. But... this is on a 980 Ti and a 4790K
Before that I was getting maybe 30-40 at the best of times on a R9 290. At the very least you could say that it uses hardware better now, but still not that great. GPU util maxed out at 80% and more often than not was around 60% (but the framerate was over 75 as well)
The overall look seemed blurrier than I remember it, but I don't have any screens to compare, so I could be just remembering it wrong - it didn't lack for bloom and excessive DoF before either.
Just to add to this, I recently tried the game myself because Book 5 is coming Soon® (apparently...) and, indeed, the switch the latest Unity engine has improved performance substantially. This is actually the best performance improvement of any Unity game I've ever seen, running through Europolis on max settings (but shadow distance set to 25m, of 50m maximum) and it's a clear 53-60 for me, whereas before it wouldn't even be 30-40 on medium settings with 8m shadow distance. I am genuinely impressed! I do agree it looks a lot blurrier and indistinct now though, it *could* be me misremembering how it used to look, but egh, I remember it being a lot more crisp.
... but not quite. It's okay, they understand people are frustrated. It's okay that it's been nearly 2 years since Episode *ONE* was released. It's okay. It's okay. Thanks for your patience.
I wonder what's taking such time with this last (?) episode, people will be pretty hyped when it's released so it's going to be difficult for it to deliver equal to this extra wait or how to say.
Announcement teaser of an announcement of a release date of a teaser of a something something something. Next week. Allegedly. Oh, not for the release, just the announcement of the teaser of the release DATE.
I sure hope so as well i plan to play through the whole saga again this summer when the last episode is released, allrdy played 2 episodes of it at release but performance was terrible and it was buggy and not fun at all.
TLJ is one of my favorite series and i really want this to be good.
Happening status: it's
A proper release date, finally
I played that first episode back in the day, and ended up liking it despite some quirks/so-so writing at times*, but it's been so long that I can barely remember its contents now. It's some sort of Dreamfallception, struggling just as Zoe does xD
*here's hoping it doesn't delve deep into SJW territories, because that would be hard to handle
I've also only played the first episode and I liked it, branching paths and interesting story though I do not know how it continues from there as I only played a very short part of the second episode, since then the game has been updated to Unity 5.x improving visuals and performance by taking advantage of the newer engine versions various improvements which is good as even on pretty high-end hardware and without extras like downsampling the initial episode could be a bit choppy in some of the city areas after the prologue part.
It might not be able to match the first game but I'd say they did pretty well although as mentioned I have not gotten very far into the game at all so it might have a few downer moments in later episode but probably plenty of good stuff too and the usual quirkiness from magic and science between Stark and Arkadia and the various inhabitants of both.
(With some political and sarcastic remarks here and there I'd imagine as the writer seems to have a bit of a thing for that, not sure what it's called if anything but it's been in the entire trilogy if I remember it correctly.)
Thinking of grabbing this as its been on my wishlist for a while now. Will I miss out of on a lot of references if I haven't played the prior one?

Eh, not really, i barely remembered the previous game and stil had fun.
Finished it, not tooo long, around 3 hours, definite end to all characters (except for You Know Who ), finally know who Lady Alvane from first game is (although it was fairly obvious from chapter 1)

I don't know, if you start watching Breaking Bad from the fifth season, will you loose much? This game is a direct continuation of Dreamfall 2006. I mean, literally goes as if that game didnt end. There are few things that make as less sense as starting to play this one without knowning the franchise

It's lose not loose (loose means "the opposite of tight"). Common mistake, especially for non-native speakers (and a majority of native ones )
But yea, I thought as much. Looks like this is a skip then. Shame. Can't be assed to go through the original.

Dreamfall 2006 is around 8 hours long and plays in a fairly standard 3rd person action-adventure fashion. Worth a try to see if it grabs you, then continue with Chapters right where 2006 ends
Steam India I assume, newest source of cheap games, unless it's from one of a few publishers where regional pricing isn't a thing.
As for the burger part I think you can make mincemeat out of horses and pigs too so eh cows aren't exactly needed.
(How much actual pure beef is there in a fast-food burger anyway? )
