Ok....how do you figure? Marriage is an intimate union between a MAN and a WOMAN (usually also for procreation in a family setting), as NATURE intended it you know? Thats how it is, bottem line. 
Seriously tho, how can u say a "marriage" between a man and a man or a woman and a woman is the same as traditional "marriage"...somethings are sacred, so to speak, in my view and marriage is one of them. Hence the reason I hate my exwife so much... |

Well I believe in human rights and marriage happens to be one of those, which a person can commit him/herself in and I just think it should be allowed for everyone.

a-d) If that's your belief, then fine! You live by those rules, just don't think you can decide for everybody. "Marriage" is a socially constructed way to work out how relationships (and sexuality) should work - and it's only as "sacred" as those who believe in it, it's between them and whatever deity they believe in (or not).
As for what nature "intended" (if "nature" can have any intentions at all, besides being largely chaotic) - there are as many exceptions to the rules of "how-to-procreate", as there are species.
We live in the 21:st Century now Syco, to be governed by ancient ideologies and traditions is a freedom of choice in any prosperous democracy. But when you start forcing those ideals onto other people, you're just supporting the contrary to democracy and liberality.
It's OK for religious people to bend the scriptures of their religions fro and forth in their modern interpretations. Or are you a fundamentalist who thinks everything in the bible/religious practice should be interpreted literally? And if not - who decides which is OK, and which isn't?

I don't see any difference beyond the nominal one. Meaning, yes, they have the same sexual organs, and when they make love they won't produce children. So what? We're both overpopulated and corrupt enough to allow simple things such as these. It's all about love, and let people do whatever they want with it.

I still dont see how you can argue my point. Im not saying homosexuals should be allowed to form some kinda of legal union which has the same legal benefits and all that of marriage. However, with that said, a homosexual union is NOT marriage...it just isnt. Marriage is something sacred between a man and a woman...straight up you know? I know thats kinda of funny coming from a guy who's divorced but fuck...I repsect what marriage is about, she didnt, so fuck her   |

Ok, thats true still. I cant really argue that.

Birthdays are man made, christmas etc etc yet we celebrate them (and dont even bring up Jehovah's Witness')
Same thing, marriage is a celebration of unity between a man and a woman...why is it the gays want the word 'marriage' so bad. its just a term right?
I just dont like the fact that alot of our traditional values as of late are being fucked with. The whole Christmas/Holiday tree/time thing is retarded. The fact that they play 3 national anthems at my niece's school, aside from the only one which should be played, the canadian national anthem. The fact that the RCMP (canadian FBI - in a way) and the UN have allowed blue coloured turbans as official head dress in a war zone or while on duty...u wear a traditional officers hat or a plain helmet, thats it. Especially in respect to the RCMP, im not trying to sound racist here but fuck, we are in Canada - the turban is not a traditional piece of clothing.
See the point im trying to make?
Why is it the majority has to change for the few?
Honestly, gay unions are cool in my books...but if they arent satisfied with the term "union", then fuck em and they deserve shit...imagine the homosexual movement of today, but 50 years ago...they would have all been admitted to some kinda nut house/rehab centre...so its not like they are forced to deny their true nature anymore.
Society is very tolerant in terms of homosexuality - but i think by defining a gay union as marriage, ur stepping over that acceptable line.

See, I see what all of you guys are saying.
Im not saying its right they cant express they're devotion to one another in a way comparible to marriage - they should be allowed to be "married" - as in they receive the same legal benefits and other benefits as if they were hetro...still, I think marriage, the word, should stay traditional in sense - a union between a man and a woman. |

Unfortunatley Syco, "marriage" now'a'days is hardly what I would call "sacred". What's the divorce statistic today? 1 in 2 marriages ends with divorce or something like that (at least in the US. Not sure internationally). Marriage is more "convenience" than "sacred". 
My personal opinion on the matter, I don't mind. However, they shouldn't go so far as to force everyone to acknowledge it. Legally they should be treated as equals, true. But, let people form their own opinions on what to think of them.
As far as reserving the word "marriage" to hetro couples, its simply a word. Don't get too worked up over it. You made the example of Holiday Tree vs. Christmas Tree right? Whether its called A or B , its still what we know it to be right? A tree put up in December. Call it what you want. If they want it to be considered marriage, than fuck, let them call it what they want. My 2 cents anyway.
