"it will be part of JL universe".. Not quite what it says.
"Right now the only sort of shared universe project I’m working on is Dark Universe for Warners, you know, for DC, which is Swamp Thing, Demon, Deadman, Zatanna."
"At this point, there’s no way of knowing how connected Justice League Dark will be to the core Justice League series."
At this point we don't know if there's any connection to the Universe the planned Justice League movies will take place.

I just can't see how this movie will fit with their other movies so I don't think it will ever get made. As such I cannot get excited for it.

Dark, the adaptation, was to have been directed by Guillermo del Toro, but insiders say the filmmaker, who is working on a sequel to Pacific Rim even as he preps his gothic horror movie Crimson Peak, is no longer attached to the project.

Following on from rumors earlier this week that Colin Farrell is being sought to play John Constantine comes word of another potential actor joining the cast of the "Justice League Dark" project in development at Warner Bros. Pictures.
Heroic Hollywood reports that Australian acting veteran Ben Mendelsohn ("Bloodline," "Mississippi Grind") is being sought to play the film's villain Anton Arcane. There's a catch though - Mendelsohn won't make a decision until a director for the project has been locked.
He joins a wishlist that includes Ewan McGregor for Jason Blood, Monica Bellucci for Madame Xanadu, and Ron Perlman as Swamp Thing - all rumored in that report earlier this week. Filming on "Justice League Dark," or whatever the film is eventually called, is aiming to begin sometime next year.

Fede Alvarez, helmer of the 2013 Evil Dead re-sequel, and Big Bad Wolves directors Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado are the "top contenders" in Warner's crosshairs.

Following the film's (Killing Joke) success, the next WB Animation feature is that of "Justice League Dark," a new film focusing on the supernatural superheroes of the DC Universe including Zatanna, Etrigan the Demon, Swamp Thing, Constantine, Black Orchid and Boston Brand.
A sneak peek featurette on the film is out and can be seen below and confirms that Matt Ryan, who played John Constantine in NBC's live action "Constantine" series, reprises the role for the new film which is slated to hit in the Fall
Takes place in DCEU and Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow) will direct. Michael Gilio (nothing of interest as far as I can tell) is writing the script.
There's still no official announcement as it's early to move forward with it but the article calls it "Dark Universe" which is how Del Toro was also calling it at some point.

Then again, not many people like Constantine, because he kind of rubs you the wrong way, you know? He's kind of like Batman in some ways. He's the supernatural version of Batman. Basically Constantine and Batman give zero fucks about anything.
Quote:
Basically this is the Demon that we all know and love, but the nice thing is we do tie in Jason Blood to the storyline. He's actually in it a lot. It's probably, as much as it's a Constantine movie, it's kind of a Demon movie as well.
Quote:
Like I said, I think this is a Jason Blood/Demon film more than anything. You're going to see his origin.
Hm.. okay. Dunno who they are, going to read up on them.

Last year filmmaker Doug Liman swapped one long in development superhero project for another – ditching Fox’s “X-Men” spin-off “Gambit” in favour of Warner Brothers’ supernatural ensemble piece “Justice League Dark”.
The DC Comics adaptation doesn’t have a release date yet, but work on the project is reportedly set to get underway sooner rather than later, in fact sometime in the next few weeks it would seem.
In a new interview with Cinema Blend, Liman shared his take on the movie and why he’s focusing on these characters:
Quote:
“I think people will be surprised how character driven and how intimate Justice League Dark is — in kind of a field of bloated comic book movies. We’ve found a way to do something that’s actually really personal and small, and that’s my goal.
The Wall is about character. The scenario allows me to dive into what I think is… I just love people! I love putting people in crazy situations. For John Constantine, we have an amazing set-up for him for Justice League Dark that’s really human.
It’s going to have real horror elements, for sure. I love early horror films, be it The Exorcist, or Carrie, The Omen. In the same way that Bourne Identity, I went back to ’70s paranoia.
There’s stuff to be mined from the people who have come before me that I’m planning to bring to Justice League Dark. And also the arena, my good friend Simon Kinberg, with Deadpool really pushed the arena.
I’m never going to do something that’s straightforward, but I’m not going to do something campy either. I have a take on it that isn’t like anything else out there. At the end of the day, I make character driven movies.”
The story reportedly begins with a series of ancient tomes being stolen by a madman hell-bent on humanity’s end. Due to this, occult detective John Constantine seeks out a group of heroes that specialize in the mystic and arcane in order to save the world including Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna, Etrigan the Demon and potentially Madama Xanadu. Michael Gilio is writing the script for the project which Scott Rudin producing.
Daniel Espinosa (“Life,” “Safe House”) and Gerard Johnstone (“Housebound”) have reportedly emerged as the two final candidates to take over the upcoming “Justice League Dark” film at Warner Bros. Pictures & DC Comics.
Beyond the Trailer broke the report, saying the studio has narrowed the search for a helmer down to these two names after the likes of both Damian Szifron (“Wild Tales”) and Andres Muschetti (“IT”) had been linked days after director Doug Liman chose to step away from the film back in May.

EXCLUSIVE: Warner Bros and DC are starting over in their search for a director for Justice League Dark, but one of the aspirants, Gerard Johnstone, has been hired to do a polish on the script. He made an impression on the studio with his presentation, but what got him in there was his 2014 film Housebound.

Guillermo del Toro Lists His 18 Unproduced Scripts – Among Them ‘Justice League Dark’ and ‘Hulk’ TV Pilot
It sounds like even Guillermo del Toro, a two-time Oscar winner for “The Shape of Water,” has trouble getting some of his movies made: He tweeted a list of 17 films he says he has ready to go, including “Justice League Dark.”
His list, which also includes a TV pilot for Marvel’s The Hulk, includes projects that are “developed, fully written or co-written” but “have gone unproduced (so far).”
They aren’t just passion projects. Besides “Justice League Dark,” which is a, well, darker take on the DC super-team, he also has versions of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” and “Haunted Mansion,” and a remake of “Fantastic Voyage.”
“To be clear these screenplays are WRITTEN, done,” del Toro said in a series of tweets on Monday. “Each of them took months, years of my life. Meetings synopsis, beat sheets and were all written, features, 90-130 pages each.”
Del Toro said the films amount to a decade of work “lost” and added that they are not pipe dreams.
“These are not ‘maybes’ or ‘wish list’ items. They are done,” del Toro added.
At least one of the projects, “Pacific Rim 2,” has already been made, but he said on Twitter that his version is “very different” from the version that audiences ultimately saw, this year’s “Pacific Rim: Uprising.”
Many of the other projects have already been previously reported and slowly faded from view over the years. For instance, del Toro was previously attached to direct “Beauty and the Beast,” which Disney released their own remake of in 2017. For “Justice League Dark,” del Toro confirmed to Gizmodo that he was in talks for the project back in 2012 and by 2013 had even revealed to IGN some of the characters that would be featured. But TheWrap reported back in 2017 that the movie still lives on at Warner Bros. and that Gerard Johnstone was hired to rewrite the script. Finally, Deadline reported that del Toro became attached to “The Hulk” TV pilot at ABC in 2010. The last update came in 2012 when he told Collider that he was “in a holding pattern” on the show. The director has also hinted at some of the other projects, some of which date back to 2001.

1/2 SCREENPLAYS I have developed, fully written or co-written that have gone unproduced (so far):
THE WITCHES, JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS, FANTASTIC VOYAGE, THE COUNT OF MONTECRISTO, MEPHISTO'S BRIDGE, PACIFIC RIM 2 (very different),

2/2 SECRET PROJECT (UNTITLED), SUPERSTITIOUS, NIGHTMARE ALLEY, HAUNTED MANSION, THE HULK pilot, THE BURIED GIANT, THE COFFIN, DROOD, LIST OF 7 (Mark Frost) and a few others…
— Guillermo del Toro (@RealGDT) November 26, 2018
The thing is- each script takes about a year, so- more than a decade of work lost (in the case of mountains, much more, since we scoiuted and designed etc)
