Matador is an isometric vehicle action game. Choose the right vehicle and weapons to suit your play style, and face off against the occupying factions. Discover tactics and unlock new vehicles and weapons as you clear the city or die trying, then do it all over again.

Features:
    • Choose from mechs, tanks and antigrav vehicles to pilot
    • Wide range of weapons for different play styles
    • Nine different levels with custom map support
    • Completely destructible environments
    • Randomized faction & enemy spawning
    • Short, high intensity playthroughs: every run is different

Like any roguelike, Matador will feature permadeath. "Progressions comes through unlocking new options and equipment for the next run," the developer stated on its official site. "There is no XP. There are no saves. When you die, start over and try, try again." Unlike most roguelikes, Matador's maps won't be randomly generated, but the enemy spawns and factions within them will be.

Matador is currently slated for a PC, Mac and Linux release this summer

Looks kickass, though it's a shame about the lack of "progression" in the normal sense, hopefully it won't affect replayability - something that is absolutely key for roguelikes.

Looks like a trippy Tiberian Sun/Red Alert 2, the explosions, the buildings, the walls, even one of the mechs you control looks like a Titan, except you can only control one (?) unit.

Doesn't remind me of Crusader at all...

What a coincidence that they suddenly announce it's coming near the end of the year...just in time to ride that Battletech Kickstarter hype train.

Hey everyone!

We're excited to finally announce that the Brigador v1.0 will be launching June 2nd, just 3 weeks away! Much of the new content is in now in place, we're just waiting on a few more changes before posting our final Early Access update prior to launch.

In addition to the game launching, we've also got the soundtrack and audiobook coming as DLC-- you can access it now via the main page or directly HERE, though you won't be able to purchase until the June 2nd launch. Vinyl editions of the soundtrack will also become available for purchase on June 2nd as well for $15; we'll post the links when available.

We're really proud of the work our collaborators have produced, 2 hours of original music and a 5+ hour audiobook chronicling a Loyalist platoon's journey through Solo Nobre when the city starts to burn. I'll be streaming parts of the book a few times between now and release via Twitch[www.twitch.tv] for anyone who would like a preview.

I've been playing this for the last couple hours and it's pretty fun, it reminds me of a more hectic version of Battletech on Sega Genesis. There are two modes, a campaign with around 30 missions and a freelance mode which I haven't tried, but I read it's a roguelike where you choose your pilot/vehicle/loadout and do missions until you die. Money you make in those missions allows you to buy new upgrades.

The maps are very detailed and fully destructible, although every type of building uses the same rubble graphic. There's a nice variety of enemy units and the difficulty can get hard when tons of bad guys swarm you. The soundtrack is mostly synthwave and it sounds good. My only real complaint is the control system. You move where your legs are facing, so in order to move left you have to hold down S to turn and then hold W.

Played the first 4 "campaign" missions (more like tutorial without any story at all), and yes the controls are fucking terrible.

Won't play this game again, if they don't implement a better control system.
I won't be too mad if that will never be the case, as at least to me the game doesn't seem to offer too much anyways to make me play more.

Too bad, as i hoped Brigador would enjoy me as much as the DOS classic "Bedlam":

@Bob: tank control is intentional and game is balanced around that
Quote:
The game was designed from the ground up for tank controls. Several key mechanics rely on tank controls to be used. Yes if you're not used to tank controls it might be awkward for the first 30-60 minutes, but it gets much better after that-- I ask that you place a modicum of trust in us and afford some time in the game before judging the controls. Either way, they're not changing.

That the game uses tank controls has been marked on the store page for months I'm sorry if the game differs from expectations but the information is on the page and can be found from watching various gameplay videos posted on youtube.

so for example they would need to make another buton to walk backwards...

PS: try to get one of the AntiGravis - they have strafing
